Kang Duk Kwan

“House of Generous teaching”

Founded in the late 1950’s after the Japanese occupation, Kang Duk Kwan was formed by former students of Chang Moo Kwan, Hong Jong-Pyo and Chul Hee Park after their teacher, Yoon Byung In was kidnapped to North Korea.

Hong Jong Pyo and Park Chul Hee had conflicts with Lee Nam Suk and Kim Soon Bae, who took over the Chang Moo Kwan upon the disappearance on Yoon Byung In which led to a separation.

Park Chul Hee, said: “After the Korean War, when the members were scattered, the Chang Moo Kwan and Kang Duk Won came out of the YMCA Kwon Bup Bu’s root. Therefore, we cannot say that the Kang Duk Won was from the Chang Moo Kwan.”

Kang Duk Won still exists today in Korea and is officially known as Taekwondo Kang Duk Won, which is a social friendship club that supports the Kikkiwon system.

Han Moo Kwan, “Korean Military School”

Founded in August 1954 by Kyo Yoon Lee who was a student of Sang Sap Chun at the Chosun Yun Moo Kwan Kwon Bob.

Kyo Yoon Lee started teaching the returning Yun Moo Kwan Kwon Bop Bu members at the Hankuk Chaeyuk Kwan Dojang in 1953 after the Korean War Aristice Agreement.

Having had conflicts with Chong-Woo Lee, he left to start his own Kwan by setting up a tent at a high school. Later, Chong-woo Lee changed the Yun Moo Kwan Kwon Bop Bu's name to Jidokwan.

Han Moo Kwan still exists today, but only as a fraternal social friendship club.
