Minor Hockey Association serving youth on the Saanich Peninsula & Gulf Islands

The season has begun, ice breakers, assessments, balancing games. All teams will need plenty of volunteers this season so please participate and ask your team manager or division manager what you can do this season to help out. Several tasks will require short online courses so get organized now so the team has plenty of hands that make the work light.

A message from our VIJHL friends at panorama, the Peninsula Panthers:
Tyler and Jason here from the Panthers.

Reaching out today, as we are in desperate need of billets for the coming season! Season runs from the middle/end of August - Beginning of April, with an all star week - Xmas break etc.

We Would really really appreciate if anyone can assist!

BENEFITS include but not limited to:

- $850 a Month
- Season Tickets for all family members in the household
- Participation in special event games such as billet family appreciation night
- Supporting young players in pursuit of their hockey development and dream to play high level hockey
- Friendship and mentoring for young family members in the billet home

Opening your home, is more than just providing a room, it’s providing a bond with a young athlete, trying to make it to the next level.

For divisions U7 U9 U11 U18Rep & U18Rec. Contact [email protected] if you have questions or would like to be division manager. As said before, the biggest contribution a division manager makes is “pre-season” organizing the division before teams are formed and team managers take over the organizing. So we need people to step up now, well before the season starts.

A division manager assists team managers within the division and is liaison between the board as well as VIAHA. The bulk of their time is preseason as the players are getting back onto the ice, but before teams are formed and everything needs to be coordinated. If you’re interested, please contact [email protected].

We were contacted by Jeff Gordon, the son of past president and former hockey coach Bob Gordon who has deep roots with Peninsula Minor Hockey and spent many years at the rink. Beyond supporting PMHA he also fiercely advocated for women’s and female hockey on the island with his work as VIAHA district coaching coordinator. Bob is currently navigating a difficult journey with dementia and his family is doing their best to support him. They have set up a GoFundMe campaign to help with his care. If you were able to do so you can support this campaign through this link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/helping-bob-gordon-with-dementia-care
And if you have any stories or photos to share, please do so by sending us a message!
