Ballroom dancing is a partner dance style performed socially or competitively, typically with close physical connection and precise footwork. It’s danced to rhythmical music, with one partner leading and the other following.
It breaks into two main categories:
· Standard (Smooth) Dances: Danced in a closed hold with continuous movement around the floor. Examples: Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep.
· Latin (Rhythm) Dances: More energetic, with separated holds, hip movements, and stationary or spot dancing. Examples: Cha-Cha, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble, Jive.

Bachata Evolution (Styles)
Bachata has evolved significantly, leading to different styles:
· Traditional (Dominican): Features fast footwork, intricate moves, and less emphasis on close partner connection. It includes more turns and free-style movements.
· Modern (Sensual): Developed in Spain (and popularized worldwide by dancers like Korke & Judith), this style focuses on body waves, isolations, and "dips." It is smoother, slower, and designed for modern bachata remixes.
· Urban/Tradicional Mixta: A fusion that combines traditional footwork with the turns and techniques of other dances like Salsa.

How about a little Grace and Poise? only here in Niagara Falls and the surrounding area?
Of course you may enjoy dancing a cha cha as it's a little more challenging. Cha Cha is a derivative of Mambo (as is salsa). Enjoy and try not to get stuck on one or two dances.
Let your soul explore the different dances in the Latin/Ballroom world that we offer 😀instead of getting stuck in a rut with one or two
