WELCOME TO THE MOTION & MUSIC TEAM NICOLE!

Nicole is a dancer, award-winning choreographer, and musical enthusiast from Stoney Creek, Ontario. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours from York University, double-majoring in Dance Education and Economics. Nicole has been a lifelong performer, competing in dance into her adulthood and appearing in West Side Story with Theatre Ancaster during the Summer of 2025.

Nicole began dancing as soon as she could walk and comes from a family of movers. At age 12 she began competing in dance and has never looked back. Through attending an Arts Secondary School she became exposed to the arts outside of dance and became more well rounded and versatile in her training. Nicole has been working with children, both in and out of a dance studio setting, for 9 years. Her flair for the dramatic and outgoing personality has contributed to her performance and teaching ability.

Her enthusiasm for dance, passion for working with the next generation of artists, and her expertise in communication and client relations makes her an invaluable member of our team. Nicole believes that dance is a powerful form of expression and is proud to contribute to a studio that fosters both creativity and community.

Nicole is teaching our Friday Kinder & Kids Musical Theatre classes, Adult Jazz and Youth Musical Theatre Production Program!

WELCOME TO THE MOTION & MUSIC TEAM SHYIA!

Shyia Gray is a Guyanese-Canadian dancer and instructor originally from Edmonton, Alberta. Born and raised in a competitive dance environment, they have been training in the art and sport of dance since the age of three. Initially training in a wide range of styles—including jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, musical theatre, and hip hop—Shyia chose in 2015 to focus exclusively on their passion for hip hop and various street styles.

Shyia has trained in multiple street and club styles, including House, Krump, Popping, Dancehall, and Locking, alongside their foundation in Hip Hop and choreography. They have worked with crews such as Eye Candy, Cool Giraffes, and TwoFourSeven Company. Their performance experience includes competing at major events like World of Dance, Vibe, Hit the Floor, and Canada’s Got Talent. They also have taken up more freestyle training with the group Higher Ground here in Vancouver.

Their passion for teaching began early, assisting beginner youth summer camps at the age of 13 and eventually leading competitive classes by 16. As an educator, they focus on fostering confidence, discipline, and creativity in their students, encouraging them to connect with both the movement and its cultural significance. Shyia continues to train rigorously to stay at the forefront of hip hop and street dance styles, ensuring they bring fresh knowledge and inspiration to their classes.

Shyia will be teaching our Saturday Kinder, Kids & Youth/Teen hip hop classes and MDC Hip Hop technique.

WELCOME TO THE MOTION & MUSIC TEAM MISS MADDY!

With over 10 years of teaching experience, Maddy teaches all ages, from preschool dancers taking their very first class to advanced competitive/exam students. She has a passion for working with the studios youngest dancers. Her specialty is helping dancers build confidence, develop strong technique, and discover what they’re capable of. She wants every dancer to leave class knowing they’ve improved, even in small ways, and feeling excited to come back

Maddy is certified in Acrobatic Arts, Alixa Flexibility, and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT), allowing her to provide safe, effective training that develops strength, flexibility, and proper technique. She has also choreographed numerous award-winning competitive routines over the years. Her preschool certifications include Kindermusik, Children’s Yoga, and Acrobatic Arts Preschool, giving her a solid understanding of how to support young dancers through music, movement, and age-appropriate skill building.

Maddy is thrilled to be joining the studio family and welcomes dancers for both classes and private lessons in technique, flexibility, choreography, performance coaching, and exam preparation. Her goal is for every dancer to leave class feeling more confident than when they walked in, whether they’ve mastered a new skill, conquered a challenge, or simply discovered a little more belief in themselves.
