Congrats to one of Nanaimo MHAs alumni

The Port Alberni Bombers are excited to announce the signing of 2008 born forward, Ben Fortier for the 2026-27 season.

The Nanaimo, BC native brings size at 6'1 and 175 lbs while shooting left.

“Ben is a hard working forward, with good size and skill that plays smart in both ends of the rink. We are exciting to work with Ben and look forward to seeing him in the Bombers line up.” said Head Coach Troy Newans.

Please give a warm Hockey Valley welcome to Ben!

Nanaimo, Puck Drop is almost here — and our community is showing up BIG.
August 22 • 10 AM–2 PM • NIC Parking Lot

We’re turning the NIC parking lot into a family‑friendly, hockey‑powered celebration to kick off the 2026 season. Inflatables, hotdogs, swag, and the fan‑favourite radar gun will all be ready for action — but the real highlight is the incredible community joining us.

We’re thrilled to welcome the Clippers, the VIU Mariners, and the Buccaneers, all coming out to meet families, cheer on young players, and be part of the fun. And your NMHA Board members will be on site — flipping hotdogs, wrangling inflatables helping run the event — supporting activities, greeting families, and maybe even testing their own slapshots (purely for “quality control,” of course).

Our NMHA Store will be open too, stocked with foam fingers, season toques, and NMHA socks and everything in between (because nothing says “I’m committed to this community” like matching socks, toque and a free hotdog😉).

Sunshine requested but we are a go rain or shine, community spirit guaranteed. See you soon!
