There were clouds, rain, wind and sun in Parksville on September 2nd and 3rd where the George Gibson Mixed Triples was held. As always, Parksville puts on a good event. Check out these bowlers from Nanaimo coming home happy!

On August 22 & 23, during the Martin Velsen Mixed Pairs tournament, the Visually Impaired Program (VIP) group held their annual fundraiser. The funds they raise assist the bowlers and their directors in travel expenses as they advance and compete at higher levels.
The group raised $1800 over 2 days by selling fresh muffins/loaves with coffee/tea in the morning, serving a hamburger & salad lunch as well as a 50/50 draw. Thank you to all that donated. It was very much appreciated. It helps a lot.
A big shout out to everyone in the VIPs involved in planning and organizing and working at this fundraiser, especially Jay and Susan for really showing up for your group. You were amazing. Even though thanks are not enough for Linda and Lezlie and Irene, thank you. A great team effort. They ran the show like pros. They looked after the kitchen, umpiring, scheduling volunteers, keeping all of the balls in the air and probably way more. A special thank you to Lindalinda (IYKYK), a great friend of the club. She worked tirelessly (for the fun of it) before, during and after the event. Thank you.
Kudos to those that did set up and take down, the BBQ pros Jamie and Brian. Great reviews!! Finally, to the ones that jumped in to help in many areas: Marzena, Debbie, Susan again, Karen, Frances, Karen and please forgive if we missed you.

This weekend, August 22 & 23, NLBC will be hosting the Martin Velsen Mixed Pairs Tournament. There will be some excellent match ups on Saturday and Sunday.
To coincide with this event, the Visually Impaired Group will be holding their annual fundraiser. These are funds that assist our VIPs to travel nationally and internationally as they advance to higher level competitions. The grill will be out and fired up to offer Burgers with a Caesar salad on Saturday and Burgers with a Tossed Salad on Sunday for $15. each day. We welcome our bowlers, their friends and family to come down and socialize, watch some fierce competition, have a tasty lunch and help support our Visually Impaired Program.

We did it! Nanaimo managed to eke out the win to keep the trophy firmly in our grip for this year. This two club exchange has been going for years, since 1982, and was let go just around COVID time. First time back after a long hiatus. The competition was fierce and the lunch was lovely. The day was filled with blue skies, sunshine and whole lotta laughter. Well done everyone. Here's a few shots of the fun folks that enjoyed the day together.
