More park land acquired for creative, thoughtful planning to take place for Loudon Park on Long Lake!

Nanaimo's Mayor Krog made an exciting announcement today that two adjacent properties have been purchased by the City of Nanaimo Local Government for the expansion of Loudon Park on Long Lake!

This investment provides an opportunity for the much needed improvements to take place while taking into account the wishes and priorities of all park users.

Everyone wants a safe, accessible, inclusive Loudon Park to enjoy year-round access to its beautiful green and blue space for relaxation, recreation and sport. For it to be a safe, welcoming space....

So much gratitude goes out to the many people over the years past and present who have been involved in the Loudon Park Improvement Project. The property acquisition announced today is a step in the right direction and a grandiose effort by our community leaders to secure more parkland and valuable waterfront access for our community and visitors in the future.

This is just the start of a lot of continued hard work and collaborative planning for the future park improvements and the dream of a new boathouse and facility for Canoe-Kayak and Rowing on Long Lake with a greater potential for sport tourism hosting!

Shout out to Mayor Krog and City Councillors Eastmure, Hemmens, Manly, Perrino and Thorpe for their support today along with City Managers and staff who were present alongside local media and user groups from the Nanaimo Rowing Club Wellington Neighbourhood Association Nanaimo Canoe and Kayak Club Long Lake Flatwater Training Centre Society (West Coast Radio Sailing Club and Save Loudon Park were missed)

Let's do great things together!
