Equal edge height is an important part of a quality skate sharpening.

Most skating is not like Nascar. Skaters turn in both directions, so both edges should be at the same height as well as sharp.
With the edges at different heights, different skate lean angles will be required to make the skates bite into the ice the same when turning. More lean angle will be needed on the short edge side vs. the taller edge side, possibly making the skates feel weird, like you've lost an edge.
A lost edge can be the cause of this, but in this case, with my tool leaning in the same direction on both skates, there is a better chance that this was caused by the blade being misaligned to the sharpening wheel during the last sharpening.

If you think you have this issue, I'd recommend taking your skates back to where they were sharpened and asking for the shop to check them with their tool.
