**𝑻𝑬𝑨𝑴 𝑨𝑵𝑵𝑶𝑼𝑵𝑪𝑬𝑴𝑬𝑵𝑻**
It’s with a mix of sadness, gratitude, and pride that we share this announcement as we reflect on the past three years.
Three years ago, four young curlers from Moose Jaw came together to compete on the U18 CurlSask Junior Tour. Since then, this group has grown—not only as athletes, but as teammates and as individuals. Last season, Riley aged out of U18 and stepped away from competitive curling, and now, as the team moves up to the U20 level, these boys have truly grown into young men.
Together, we’ve experienced the highs of victory and the lessons that come with tough losses. One of our proudest moments was representing Saskatchewan at Nationals in 2025, where we finished 7th after entering as the 21st seed. The memories and experiences from these past seasons will stay with us for a lifetime, and the friendships built will continue well beyond the game.
Last week, Blake Montgomery shared with the team that he’s ready for a new opportunity and has decided to join another U20 team for the upcoming season. We are incredibly thankful for our time together, and while we’ll miss having him on our team, we respect his decision and wish him nothing but success. We look forward to competing against him on the ice next season.
With this transition, Coach Rod has also made the decision to step away from coaching. Rod has been an incredible leader and mentor, and we hold him in the highest regard. His experience in competitive curling—including two Brier appearances representing Saskatchewan and competing on the Grand Slam circuit winning the GSOC Open—brought invaluable knowledge of game strategy and preparation to our team.
The time and dedication Rod has given us have been truly extraordinary, especially while serving full-time as the Fire Chief for the City of Moose Jaw. We’re not sure how he managed to give us so much of his time, but we are deeply grateful. And Lisa—thank you for sharing him with us (and for your patience along the way!).
We invite you to take a look back at some of our memories with Blake over the past three years, and stay tuned for updates on Team Heisler for the 2026 season. We’re excited for what’s ahead—and we’ll see Blake on the ice 🥌
