True Grit U24 Dragon Boat

Last month, True Grit headed to the 2026 CanAmerican Club Crew Championships at the Montreal Olympic Basin for the biggest race weekend of our season.

🎀 Women Standard - 1st overall
- 200m: 0:52.46 - 1st
- 500m: 2:11.87 - 3rd
- 2000m: 9:33.12 - 1st

🐲Open Standard - 1st overall
- 200m: 0:48.08 - 3rd
- 500m: 2:03.29 - 1st
- 2000m (rerace): 8:47:48 - 1st

There were highs. There were lows. There were races that tested us, moments that forced us to reset, and unexpected turns that definitely kept the adrenaline flowing. 😮‍💨

And after everything…

🏆 True Grit: Women & Open 24U-PS Club Champions 2026 🏆

Of course, no championship weekend would be complete without a True Grit chaos. 💚👹 We embraced our inner gremlins with some green paint, and brought out the bald caps and red hair dye to channel our coaches Michael Wu and stephxchin . The resemblance may be questionable, but the commitment was there. 🧑‍🦲❤️

We spent the entire season building up towards this weekend, knowing that when the time came, we would only get one chance to show what we could do.

So we put everything we had onto the water.

To our incredible coaches Steph, Chris, and Mike: thank you for believing in this team and giving us everything you had throughout the year. Thank you for pushing us past what we thought we were capable of, keeping us grounded when things got tough, and trusting us to rise to the occasion. 🫶🐵

True Grit’s goes to TIDBRF! 🚙🚗💨

For the first time, our True Gremlins (Women) and True Goblins (Open) travelled 6 hours away from home to compete in the 38th annual Toronto International Dragon Boat Festival (TIDBRF). 🧌🐉🫧

From June 13th to 14th, our paddlers raced 200m and 500m. Special mention to True Goblins sitting in the pouring rain for 20 minutes waiting to race, before earning their silver medal in Final B 🥈

Last National Championships, True Grit became the first team in Canadian history to three-peat in the 24U mixed standard category. 🥇🥇🥇

We wanted to highlight our accomplishments over the past few years with a small commemoration of our time at Nationals from 2023 to 2025.

We honestly couldn’t have done it without every member of our team, past and present, and our coaches for their guidance and support.

Thank you also to all the other teams we’ve competed against over the years. We couldn’t have pushed ourselves beyond our limits without you pushing us to give our best. Let’s keep inspiring each other and continue elevating the 24U scene and the dragon boat community together. 💪

Finally, let this achievement be a testament to our team’s perseverance and determination (our “true grit”) and a reminder for us to keep striving for greater heights so we can become the best iteration of ourselves year after year.
