Smith Hill Equestrian's First Ever Foal Has Arrived!

We are absolutely over the moon to announce that Smith Hill Equestrian has its very first foal — and what a way to start!

Meet Punch, a gorgeous unique colored c**t out of Cateryna K (Shawna Rinzler-Johnston) by Beaverwoods Mystique. He's already rocking his daddy's signature colour and honestly, we can't stop staring at him.

Mama Cateryna K is doing amazing, baby Punch is doing amazing, and the rest of us are just out here trying to hold it together because this little guy is something else entirely.

This is a huge milestone for Smith Hill, we couldn't have asked for a better first foal.

This is the moment that says everything. In the early hours of the morning, at 12:25 AM, our provincial large animal vet answered the call and arrived to help our horse through a colic episode that had us sick with worry. Colic can kill a horse in a matter of hours, and without that dedicated provincial service, the outcome of that night could have been devastating. But thanks to the skill and commitment of a vet who showed up in the dark of night when we needed them most, this is what we get to see — our horse, healthy and at peace, sharing a quiet moment with his buddy. This is exactly what is at stake as the New Brunswick government moves to eliminate provincial large animal veterinary services. It's not a statistic or a budget line. It's a living, breathing animal who needed help, and someone who came. Who comes next time?
