Flying Acorn Trail Run

So, has Flying Acorn tomorrow (wow, tomorrow!!!) formally turned into an adventure race?! Well, we’ll see what everyone looks like when they come over the finish line!

Will people get wet? Yes
Will people get muddy? Maybe (but not much)
Will people have fun? We sure think so!

What an amazing evening last night out on course for Flying Acorn with a super enthusiastic group of runners! Our shake out run and course preview was a big success (so long as you don’t count the mosquito component 😆🤣🦟) and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to the trail park for Saturday morning. So long as one is moving, the bugs are relatively fine, but it wouldn’t hurt to bring a little bug spray that morning.

Don’t forget that race kit pickup is available on both Friday evening from 7-8pm and Saturday morning starting at 6:30am up until 15 minutes prior to your race time.

🎉🥳 HELLO EVERYONE! It's here.....WELCOME to Flying Acorn 2026 RACE WEEK! Whoop whoop!!!!!

IMPORTANT details were just emailed to all racers in the A&L Cycle 5k, Westman Chiropractic Centre 10k and Sunrise Credit Union Half Marathon. Please check your email or, at the very least, read through the details in this post.

If you're able to join us for the shake out run and course preview tomorrow (Tuesday) evening at the Squirrel Hills Trail Park, we'd love to see you there for 5:30pm. It is open to everyone, bring your friends (racers and non-racers).

On July 14 and in cooperation with the Squirrel Hills Trail Runners, you're invited to join Flying Acorn Race Directors Ryan Lamont and Dave Ternier for an official shakeout run and course preview ahead of race day! Join us at the Squirrel Hills Trail Park for 5:30pm on Tuesday, July 14 as we head out for your choice of a 5k or 10k preview of the race route.

You do not need to be registered to race at Flying Acorn to attend this shakeout and course preview run. Everyone is welcome! Please join us for some great trail time, good trail community and we'll have some snacks and bevies on hand for all! No need to RSVP and this comes free of charge. See you on the 14th!

🙌 Volunteers are the heart of Flying Acorn...and this year we celebrate them in a new way!

From welcoming runners at registration, to cheering on the course, handing out hydration and nutrition, directing traffic, and celebrating every finisher, our volunteers are the reason this event is possible. Trail events would not exist without them. Flying Acorn would not exist without them.

That's why we're excited to welcome the Dari Isle Drive In, Since 1965 as our new Volunteer Appreciation Partner for 2026! 🍔🍦 Their generous support will help us thank the incredible people who give their time and energy to make Flying Acorn such a memorable experience for every runner.

Dari Isle Drive-In has been a Minnedosa favourite for generations, serving up delicious burgers, fries, ice cream and smiles all summer long. We're incredibly grateful to have a local community-minded business like theirs helping us celebrate the volunteers who make race day happen. 🙏

We are thrilled to announce that the second edition of Flying Acorn is now officially SOLD OUT! If you were hoping to get in on the 5k, 10k or half marathon, please join our waitlist (find "Flying Acorn" on the UltraSignup website). If we hear of a runner needing to back out, we'll contact people in order that they joined the waitlist (we've already had one half marathon waitlister get lucky and get a bib because of this).

To all of those out of towners who will be running with the 75 racers in the A&L Cycle 5k, the 75 racers in the Westman Chiropractic Centre 10k and the 50 racers doing the Sunrise Credit Union Half Marathon, thank you for planning to come to Minnedosa on July 18th. With the recent rains, the community (and many around the Westman/Parkland area) are struggling and could use a boost of good energy. If you're able when you come to race, stop in around town and fill with gas, grab some food, visit gift shops, buy some ice cream, or whatever you're able to do. Any little bit helps out a community that has seen more than its share of flooding over the past number of years.

With that...we're 16 days away from race day! Stay tuned for some important race day announcements and an official pre-race day shake out run that'll be happing the Tuesday of that week. Talk soon acorns!!!

With just 24 hours to go before general registration closes for Flying Acorn 2026, we are down to the last spot! We have a one single, solitary race entry remaining for the trail race on July 18 at the Squirrel Hills Trail Park! Who will be the final person to snap up the one remaining spot in the A&L Cycle 5k event?

If you're interested in the other race distances, please join our waitlist on our UltraSignup registration page. We've just connected someone from the Half waitlist with another runner who is unable to make it. Getting yourself on the waitlist is the only way to have a chance at that.

While Flying Acorn does not supply refunds, if you are unable to make the race on July 18th, please email us (check your race registration email for contact info) and we'll do our best to connect you with a runner that might be looking for a spot. DO NOT post in the comments here that you have a race bib for sale as many bots and scammers do exactly that. Please ignore all comments about race bibs for sale as they are typically scams (we've already deleted multiple comments like this).
