🤸‍♀️ EDUCATIONAL CORNER: The Balance That Shows Everything
On the photo: Side balance with back leg hold - one of the most difficult elements in Rhythmic Gymnastics.
What judges and coaches actually look at:
1. Standing leg is the foundation
It must be fully straight and strong. If it bends - you lose balance and points. We always train it with relevé and core work.
2. Hips stay square
Common mistake: opening the hip to lift the leg higher. At VSA we teach to keep both hips facing forward. Height comes later, correct shape comes first.
3. 3 pillars = 1 balance
Flexibility alone is not enough. You need:
• FLEXIBILITY (splits, back)
• STRENGTH (standing leg + core)
• CONTROL (slow hold for 3+ seconds)
At home tip for our gymnasts: Don't just stretch. Hold your balance 5 seconds longer every day. That's where real progress happens.
Proud of our online athletes training with the same standards as in-studio! 💙
And yes, we have the best supervisors 😅🐶
