May 2013 - just walked Fair Allistrar's Trail, bit muddy at bottom with several
windfalls on way to look off and a bit beyond look off.

However, trail is certainly
walkable and the visibility is great now with leaves not out fully yet. MacPhee and Beaton Trails in good shape.

If you enjoy the sights and sounds of a babbling brook you will like the Bear Trap trail. It is a bit rough and wet but walking through this beautiful hardwood glen (MacIsaac's Glen) is very rewarding. Apparently the bear enjoys it as well as evidenced by several trade mark droppings.

What a difference a couple of warm days make! We are scouting out the trails checking on winter and wind damage. Be patient as we deal with this but don't let the odd windfall stop you from hiking. There's still snow on the MacEachern trail but the spring beauties are abundant on the Edge of the Valley trail.

Folks are anxious to get out on the trails. As you likely know we have had a lot of snow and a cool spring so there's definitely still some snow on sections of the trails. However, for the most part, the trails are very ok for hiking. The MacEachen trail from the top of Cape Mabou near the windmill should be avoided, it probably has lots of the white stuff.
Folks should know that no windfalls have been cut yet. Also, the road past the Mabou Mines Trailhead is rough with snow in places.
Overall, it's fun hiking. Pictures taken April 13 and 14.

A beautiful windy day to experience our trails, either by doing trail work or just enjoying the views. Lots of folks out today, some are getting ready for Capes100 in August.

Several folks and their doggies out on the trails on this beautiful day. Yes, a few flies around but a small price to pay for the wonderful views , exercise and fresh air.

A beautiful day for a hike. A nice two hour or less hiking loop going up Edge of the Valley trail which becomes MacArthur trail , crossing over to MacEachen trail going right, then back to the car on the Bear Trap trail. All trails are in good shape but a bit wet in places on the Bear Trap.

Happy Easter and happy hiking. There are lots of folks out on the trails already which is great to see. There is still some snow here and there and actually quite a lot at the trailhead at Cape Mabou. The ocean colors are interesting and with no leaves in the trees the views are wonderful.
