And just like that… our 49th season is a wrap! 💙

The pool is officially closed for the season, marking the end of another wonderful summer in our community.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this a safe, happy and memorable summer at the Lunenburg and District Swimming Pool. Whether you came for a swim, brought the kids, supported our fundraisers, made a donation, or simply cheered us on from the sidelines, we are so grateful for your continued support.

And to our amazing pool staff, thank you! Your hard work, dedication, professionalism and commitment to keeping our community safe does not go unnoticed. You are a huge part of what makes this pool so special.

This season was extra special because it brings us to a major milestone in the history of our pool.

Next year marks our 50th year of operation!

For five decades, this pool has been a place where generations of families have learned to swim, made memories, built friendships, and enjoyed summers together. And incredibly, we continue to operate as a not-for-profit, volunteer-run facility something that makes our pool truly unique.

As we close out our 49th season, we are already looking ahead to celebrating 50 years of the Lunenburg and District Swimming Pool. We couldn’t have made it this far without the incredible support of our community.

🎉 WHAT A WAY TO END THE SEASON! 🎉

Last night we wrapped up another amazing pool season with our End of Season Pool Party and, as you probably know, it’s also our main fundraiser of the year! Over 150 of you showed up!

Thanks to our incredible community, we raised an amazing $1,013.85!

All summer long, one of the items on our wish list was a new, updated spinal board. This is a vital piece of safety and rescue equipment for our pool, and any funds raised from the party were going to go toward purchasing one.

But then something pretty amazing happened…

Because of the generosity of our community and the donations made at the end of the season, we have raised enough to cover the ENTIRE cost of the new spinal board and accessories! Don’t worry, the old one will be used for safety education for our Bronze Courses!

That means one very important piece of equipment is officially checked off our wish list.

And this is especially meaningful because we are one of the last pools in the entire province to still be operated by volunteers. While other community pools and aquatic facilities have transitioned to being operated by local towns or municipalities, our pool continues to be run by a dedicated volunteer board and community members who care deeply about keeping it here.

That means fundraisers like this and the generosity of our community make a huge difference. Every dollar goes back into the pool, whether it’s safety equipment, maintenance, improvements or helping us keep the doors open for our community.

Lunenburg and District Swimming Pool really does have the BEST community. 💙

Before we officially close the pool for the season, we’d love to reunite these lonely lost-and-found items with their rightful owners!

If you spot something in the photo that belongs to you (or your kiddo), today is your LAST CHANCE! Come down to the pool today and claim it before it finds its way into the “well… I guess nobody wants this” pile.

🔥 BBQ NEWS! 🌭

Well folks… the pool is getting a BBQ!

A HUGE thank you to Alex Greek of Exit Realty Inter Lake for his incredibly generous donation that allowed us to purchase a brand-new BBQ for the Lunenburg and District Swimming Pool! And thank you to Lunenburg Hardware BMR for the free delivery!

Alex is a long-time Lunenburg local and we are so grateful to have community-minded local businesses and people like him supporting our pool. This is exactly what community is all about!

Because let’s be honest… swimming makes you hungry, and nothing says party time at the pool quite like the smell of hot dogs cooking!

While we are celebrating this exciting addition, we also want to remind everyone that our Pool Party remains our ONLY fundraiser for the pool. We have several capital projects on the books, including some that will be needed as early as next year. One of those is replacing a pool pump that unfortunately kicked the bucket this season — and that is a BIG expense for our little pool.

So while this BBQ is a wonderful gift, there is still lots of work ahead to keep our pool running, maintained and improving for our community.

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity and support we continue to receive. Our pool community is pretty amazing!

BREAKING NEWS: A BBQ HAS BEEN LOST!!

Okay… maybe “lost” is dramatic. But after years of service, our trusty pool BBQ has officially rusted itself into retirement.

And of course, it had to happen less than a week before our final event of the season. Because apparently, the BBQ wanted to go out with a bang too. 😂

But we refuse to let a little BBQ drama ruin our Year-End Party! 🌭

So, how can YOU help?

Come join us this Thursday from 6–8 PM at the Lunenburg and District Swimming Pool for our Year-End Party.

This year, we’re removing the usual $2 entrance fee and changing it to PAY WHAT YOU CAN. And most importantly we will NOT turn anyone away. ❤️

Our Year-End Party should be a celebration for everyone, regardless of their financial situation. We don’t want the cost of admission to be a barrier for any child or family to come enjoy the evening with us. So whether you can donate $20, $2, nothing at all, or somewhere in between — come join us! Want to donate ahead of time? See options below!

If you’re able to contribute, every donation goes directly back into the pool and will help us keep providing a safe, fun and welcoming place for our community. And the cost of a new BBQ!

And maybe… just maybe… we can help these sad faces get their BBQ back.

Small Changes, Big Impact 💙

On behalf of the Lunenburg and District Swimming Pool, I reached out to the Town of Lunenburg to request accessible parking spaces closer to the pool entrance.

Accessibility is something we continue to look at in the areas where we can make improvements, and we’re so pleased to see these spaces now in place. These may seem like a small change, but they can make a big difference for swimmers and families who need accessible parking.

A huge thank you to the Town of Lunenburg for listening to our request and making this improvement happen. We truly appreciate your support and willingness to work with us to make the pool more accessible and welcoming for everyone.

We’ll continue looking for ways, big and small, to improve our facility and make it a better place for our community.
