Our Jr program ended Friday, the 21st with the classes playing games and then treated to cupcakes and drinks. It was another very successful summer with over 170 registered for lessons. Thank you to the parents for their support, to the youth and to our four wonderful instructors.

The Ron Moore Memorial tournament was held Saturday morning with seven mens teams participating. The format is known as “blind date” where the men are paired to make fairly well balanced teams. Playing a total of 42 short sets of 4 games, the round robin play ended with a three-way tie. With a name draw from a hat, George Crookshank and Leo Unglaub got a bye and play continued with Eugene Moore and David Marsters playing a tiebreak format for third place against Fred Stanford and Dave McFarland. After a very close match with both teams having multiple match points, Eugene and David moved on to the final game against George and Leo resulting in a close three-set match with Eugene and David as champions.

TNS VISIT

We were very happy to have a representative from TNS, Esme MacGillivray, at our courts on Monday afternoon. Esme, along with our instructors, organized a fun PlayDay with 12 orange ball participants. Winners in Pool A were first place Emerson Romkey, second Mariah Walters. Pool B winners were first Elliott MacArthur, second Ella Tanner. A picture of the group is attached (2 missing).

Congratulations to our Lunenburg Juniors for winning the first Davis Cup event with Bridgewater last week at the Bridgewater courts. It was a fun and very competitive afternoon with Lunenburg winning 63 games and Bridgewater 53 games. Thank you to the parents who drove and supported our team. The next event will be held in Lunenburg in the near future.
