As Highview Lucan prepares to open its doors, I wanted to personally invite you to join us for our Community Open House on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
Over the past year, we've been creating something that is very close to my heartβa private intergenerational home where seniors, adults living with dementia, and adults with developmental disabilities, autism, and other forms of neurodiversity live together as one community.
As the parent of an adult son with an intellectual disability, this project has become deeply personal. Griffin has been part of the George Bray Hockey Association for nearly a decade, and I can't begin to express how much that experience has meant to himβand to our family.
Through hockey, he has found friendships, confidence, routine, and the simple joy of being part of a team. Those experiences have reinforced something I have long believed: that every person deserves opportunities to belong, to contribute, and to be part of a community.
That same belief has shaped Highview Lucan.
Our Community Open House will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with guided tours available throughout the day. It will be the only opportunity for the general public to tour the Home before we begin welcoming our first residents.

If you're available, I would genuinely love to welcome you, show you around the Home, and share the vision behind what we've created.
Warm regards,
Joy Birch

To all GBSA parents and caregivers,
A parent of one of our athletes works at Highview Residences and is working on a new private, supported independent home for adults with a developmental disability / neurodiversity.
As part of the early planning, she is inviting parents and families to share their experiences and perspectives through a short survey. The goal is simply to learn; to better understand what families are navigating today and what kinds of living options may be helpful in the future.
If you are open to sharing your thoughts, the confidential survey can be accessed here: SURVEY-click here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ParentsSDMQuestions-Lucan-SIL
Your input and ideas would truly be valued.

Last weekend, Michelle Ryan, one of our board members had the pleasure of attending the I Have Resolve Foundation 2nd Annual Gala. On behalf of the George Bray Sports Association, Michelle accepted a very generous donation to our league. We are so grateful to the I Have Resolve foundation for their unwavering support over the past few years. A huge GBSA THANK YOU to everyone at the foundation.
The I Have Resolve Foundation is committed to advancing disability inclusion by raising awareness, providing education, and delivering meaningful support. They work to ensure that regardless of differences, everyone has the opportunity to live, learn, play, and thrive together. I encourage everyone to check out their website (https://ihaveresolve.com/) and pages for more information about who they are and what they do for our communities to promote and increase inclusion.
They do incredible work!
