Thomas Legion Track & Field Club has been operating since 1976. We are registered with Athletics Ontario (A.O.) and we are proud to be active participants in the South-Western Ontario Region. Our Club is a not for profit organization that focuses on the development of amateur athletes ranging from 11 years of age to masters (35+) athletes. STL athletes finished the outdoor season on a high bringing home 9 National medals from the Youth National Championships this past weekend in Regina, SK.
Nash Okkerse finished his “Golden” year with 2 more Gold medals in his individual events, the U16 boys 1200m (3:11.79), 2000m (5:43.09). Nash also brought home a bronze in the 800m with a new PB and a new Club Record (1:57.82)
Xavier Sauer came home with 2 medals in the U16 boys sprints, a Silver medal in the 200m (22.35s) and a bronze in the 100m (11.23s).
Nash and Xavier were both members of Team Ontario’s Sprint medley relay, bringing home another Gold medal with a new meet record.
Xavier also competed on Team Ontario’s Gold medal 4x100-metre relay team.
In the U18 category, Will Downing took the Silver medal in the men's 110m hurdles (14.62 sec.) and finished 11th in the 400m hurdles (58.13).
Ethan Brown placed 16th in all his 3 events, 800m with a new PB, (2:04.52), 1200m (3:23.30) and 2000m (6:00.82).
Amy Williamson competed in the jumps events, placing 19th in the Long Jump, and 14th in the Triple Jump.
A well deserved congratulations to all our athletes for their first appearances at these Championships.

3 STL athletes competed at the Ontario Summer Games over the Weekend. The track and Field portion of the Games were held at Resurrection Catholic Secondary School in Kitchener, ON.
Nash Okkerse ad two gold medals in to his collection by winning the 1200m and the 2000m U16 boys category.
Xavier Sauer captured 2 medals also a gold in the 200m and silver in the 100m.
Alayna Sloetjes placed 7th. in the 80n Hurdles Finals and 7th in the 200m Hurdles at the same category.

STL had 12 club athletes competing at the AO U14/16/18 Championships this past weekend in St. Catharines, bringing home 7 medals and more club records and PB’s.

Nash Okkerse added two more to his 2026 Gold medal collection with a Gold in both the U16 boys 1200m (3:10.09), and the 2000m (5:42.21), with new PB’s and new club records. Nash is currently ranked 1st Nationally in both events in his age category.
Kaleb Charette won U16 boys hammer throw (32.30m) after taking silver in discus (35.61m) and placed 8th in javelin (29.62m).
Xavier Sauer captured silver medals in both the U16 boys 100m (11.22 sec) and 200m (22.56 sec.) and placed 4th in long jump (5.79m).
Will Downing finished 5th in the U18 boys 110m hurdles (15.02s) and 6th in the 400m hurdles (56.87s).
Ethan Brown placed 6th in the U16 boys 2000m (5:57.68), 10th in the 1200m (3:21.03) and 10th in the 800m (2:07.22) with new PB’s in all 3 events.
Amy Williamson landed 6th in U18 girls triple jump (10.51m) and 6th in long jump (4.88m).
Brianna Scott finished 8th in the U16 girls 300m (43.10s).
Alayna Sloetjes was 12th in U16 80m hurdles (13.44s).
Audrina Nicholson, in U16 girls was 12th in long jump (4.39m), 18th in the 150m (27.53s) and 19th in the 100m (13.32s).
Kayla Zelibka placed 14th in the U18 girls 400m hurdles (1:08.45) with a new PB.

STL’s boys sprint medley relay team of Downing, Sauer, Spaulding and Okkerse, missed out on the Gold by .02 secs, bringing home the Silver medal in that event and a new Club record.
The U18 girls 4x100m relay team of Weaver, Zelibka, Scott and Williamson, placed 7th.

6 STL athletes will be heading to Regina, SK to compete at Youth Nationals Aug 7-10th. Nash and Xavier will be competing as part of the Ontario team, representing Ontario at the Championships. We wish them all best of luck as they wrap up their outdoor season in Regina.

While most of our STL athletes were in Windsor at AO’s, some were up in Sudbury competing at the Ontario Legion championships.
Nash Okkerse captured the Gold medal in both the U16 boys 1200m (3:13.58) and the 2000m (5:49.37), 58), and placed 7th in the 800m (2:05.77)
Xavier Sauer won the U16 boys 200m (22.49 sec), finished 2nd the 100m (11.23 seconds) and 3rd in long jump (6.19m).
Amy Williamson came home with a Silver medal in U18 long jump (5.34m) and Bronze in triple jump, with a new PB of 11.30m
Will Downing took silver in the U18 male 400m hurdles (56.38 sec.).
Ethan Brown finished 5th in the U16 boys 2000m (6:03.06), 8th in the 1200m (3:24.70) and 9th in the 800m (2:13.16).

STL athletes Hallee Knelsen and AJ Stanat both achieved double Gold medals at the AO U20/Open Provincial Championships in Windsor this past weekend.
Knelsen won the open women's 800m by 3 seconds, crossing the finish line in 2:07.43, and also won the 1500m with a time of 4:24.29.
Stanat repeats as Provincial shot put champ, with a best throw of 17.61 m, over 2 metres further than the rest of the field and also took the discus title with a throw of 47.23m.
Henry Scott won the U20 men's 200m in 21.43 seconds and placed 4th in the 400m (48.24 sec.)
Mason Basson brought home a Silver medal in open men's 800m (1:51.66) and placed 4th in the 1500m (3:55.55).
The STL open women's 4x400m relay team with Knelsen and three U20 runners, Alicia Weaver, Kayla Zelibka and Brianna Scott, placed 3rd.
The STL U20 women's 4x100m relay team of Weaver, Zelibka, Scott and Danica Cober, placed 5th.
Danica Cober finished 12th in the U20 women's 100m hurdles (15.25 sec.)
Kayla Zelibka placed 14th in the U20 women’s 400m hurdles (1:08.57)
Tristan Spaulding placed 9th in the U20 men's long jump (5.87m)
Andrew Monteith was 8th, in the open men's 800m (2:01.24).

St Thomas Legion brought back 25 medals from Windsor this weekend while competing at the District A' Legion Championships at Sandwich SS in LaSalle, ON.

In the U16 category:
-Xavier Sauer captured Gold in the 100m(11.36) and 200m with a New Meet Record (22.86) and a silver in the Long Jump (5.82m).
-Nash Okkerse had 2 Gold medals in the 800m (2:10.06), 1200m (3:24.20) and a silver 2000m with a new Meet record (5:47.51) and new Club Record.
-3 Bronze medals and new Personal best for Ethan Brown in the 800m(1:11.93), 1200m(3:27.06), and 2000m (6:01.62) also a NMR.
-Kaleb Charette had a Gold in the Hammer Throw (28.02m), Silver in the Discus throw(36.33m) and placed 4th. in the Javelin Throw.
-Alayna Sloetjes, Bronze in the 80m Hurdles (13.03)
-Brianna Scott, Bronze in 200m Hurdles (31.05) and 200m Dash (27.88). -Audrina Nicholson, Bronze in 100m (13.35), placed 4th in Long Jump (4.90m) and 5th in the 200m (28.31).
In the U18 category:
-Amy Williamson captured 2 Gold medals in Triple Jump with a NPB (10.90m) and Long Jump (5.25m) and a silver medal in the 100m (12.83). -Will Downing a Gold medal in the 400m Hurdles with a New PB and a New meet record of (56.29), Silver in the 110m Hurdles (14.55). -Kayla Zelibka, 2 bronze medals in the 400m with a new PB (1:00.37) and a PB in the 400m Hurdles (1:09.01) and placed 5th in the 100m Hurdles. -Alicia Weaver, a Bronze I the 100m (13.06), a bronze in the 200m (27.48) and placed 4th. in the 400m with a New PB (1:01.84) -Tristan Spaulding captured the bronze medal in the boys Long Jump (5.68m) and he placed 7th in the100m (11.93)

Four STL athletes competing with Parkside Stampeders brought home five silver medals, six medals in total, from OFSAA track and field last weekend.
-Xavier Sauer led the way sprinting to second place finishes in both the novice boys 100 and 200 metres dashes, at the high school provincial championships, June 4-6, at the Niagara Olympic Club.
-Nash Okkerse took silver in the novice boys 1500 metre run and a bronze medal in the 800 metres.
-Amy Williamson leaped to silver in junior girls long jump, landing a personal best (PB) measurement of five metres and 43 centimetres (5.43m) on her final jump, moving from sixth to second place.
Williamson also placed 11th in junior girls triple jump (10.20m) and 15th in the junior girls 100m (12.80 sec.).
Parkside, thanks to four medals, won the novice boys team title.
-East Elgin Eagles Henry Scott just missed a medal, finishing fourth in the senior boys 200m (21.57 sec.) and eighth in the 400m (48.60 sec.). Congratulations to all this athletes and Good luck for the rest Outdoor season.

We had another successful warm weather training camp during March Break. 6 other clubs joined STL for a week at the National Training Center in Clermont, FL. The athletes spent the week training outside everyday in the warmer weather, meeting and having some fun with other athletes, and had some time to catch a few rays too.
