Growing up in London, Sierra Jamieson was always told that because she was an Indigenous woman she couldn't be a police officer. Now the 19-year-old from Oneida Nation of the Thames has made it her mission to prove them wrong.

When Gabby Schoettle was 8 years old, her mother died of metastatic breast cancer. Soon afterward, her father became ill and was unable to work. The health-care providers who showed her compassion throughout this tragic journey left a lasting impact on her.

"During an afternoon safari we saw some lionesses sleeping in the tall grass. We started to see what was happening and after a while we realised that there were many more lions. We were in a pride of 25 lions with cubs and a beautiful adult male. We got to witness so many scenes of these animals' daily routine, including the care of this mother to her cub."
