As the summer comes to an end and the new school year begins, it's crucial to prioritize not only getting back in schedules and getting the back-to-school shopping done, but also our physical well-being.

Let's talk about movement and why it's your ultimate secret weapon for conquering stress, and developing routines.

Picture this: it's September, and life suddenly feels like a whirlwind of schedules, pick ups and drop offs, harvest, closing up cabins at the lake, and never-ending to-do lists. It's so tempting to let movement practices slip away.

But here's the thing, movement doesn't have to be an added stressor. In fact, it's your ultimate stress-busting sidekick.

It's all too easy to get caught up in the chaos leaving movement in the dust. But guess what? You can overcome this with support and making your movement a priority.

So, here's the plan: let's schedule some movement time like it's the most important hour of the day! Whether it's a refreshing morning walk, a quick stretching session before starting the day, or joining a regular class.

Find what works for you and make it a non-negotiable part of your day. Trust us, your body and mind will thank you.

We want to hear how you prioritize movement during the fall season. Share your tips and tricks in the comments below!

Barb gets it. Once your body gets used to feeling strong, mobile, and pain-free, it doesn't stay quiet when you skip a session.

That physical "yelling" (stiffness, tight hips, back aches) is just your body asking for maintenance. Consistency is the most important thing in your practice and is what keeps you out of pain.

Come move with us this fall! DM us for registration to our upcoming session in September.

New to Pilates? Start here this fall 🍂

With Pilates, it's all about building a foundation for the future.

We're talking about dense bones that can withstand anything life throws at them including a possible slip and fall.

Developing your muscular strength and connection that make everyday tasks feel like a breeze. Ensuring good balance so that when you're 80 you can still keep up with your family, look after yourself and live on your own.

Learning to connect with your body again so you can move freely without the back pain, sciatica, or shoulder issues that have been holding you back.

Pilates isn't just a workout, it's an investment in your long-term health.
Start investing with us this fall and join our new 4-week beginner Pilates Foundations class in September.

New clients can register their spot online or by contacting the studio at 780.808.4144

Rest isn’t always best... in fact, total rest for back pain is often a trap.

When back pain strikes, the default advice used to be "rest and avoid moving."

Modern exercise science shows the exact opposite: being sedentary is far more damaging to your spine than controlled movement ever will be.

Here is why your spine actually craves movement and load:

🌱 Nourishment: Intervertebral discs have very little direct blood supply. They rely on the sponge effect of movement, compression, and decompression to absorb nutrients and stay hydrated.

🤝 Adaptation: Just like your muscles and bones, your spine adapts to stress. Without regular, safe loading, the supporting muscles weaken, and joint stiffness increases.

🚨Pain Sensitivity: Avoiding movement creates a fear cycle that actually heightens your nervous system pain response to everyday motion.

The goal isn't to push through sharp pain, but to find your entry point to safe, progressive movement. Your spine was built to bend, twist, and load. You just need the right guidance to start.

Ready to move with confidence again? Drop a 💙 below or send us a message to learn how our tailored studio sessions can help you rebuild spinal strength safely or book your initial consult with us online.

Unpopular opinion: Being "good at Pilates" is completely beside the point.

Eight-plus years into teaching, and I still grab props and slow down movements every single week. Why? Because we aren't training to look like circus performers. We're training for real life.

The whole point of stepping into the studio isn't to impress anyone, it's so you can roll out of bed, garden, hike, or handle your daily routine totally pain-free. As I always say in the studio, the goal of Pilates isn't actually to be amazing at Pilates, it’s to be great at everything else.

If you've been holding back because you think you're "not ready" or "not flexible enough," drop the perfectionism and come move with us.

💪 Pilates Foundations Class starts this September.
Let’s find movement that actually makes you feel good.
