💙 Growing Through Movement
This Week’s Insight: Freeze Dance
You see Freeze Dance. We see so much more.
While our preschoolers are moving, stopping and having fun, they’re also practicing listening, body control, spatial awareness and responding to musical cues.
It’s a perfect fit for September’s focus on Space & Place — helping dancers understand where their bodies are and how to move safely through the space around them.
That’s the power of purposeful play. 💙

Hi, I’m Miss Lauren! 💙
Some of my favourite songs are the ones I make up as I go — which comes in pretty handy when you spend your days creating, playing and learning alongside some of TDC’s littlest friends. 💙
This season, you’ll find me in Fine Arts Club with our Little & Kinder Movers, as well as our Grown-up & Me and Kids Intellidance classes.
This summer was filled with lots of simple things I love — beach days, ice cream and bike rides. I also travelled to Kelowna with my family to spend some time visiting my cousin on her farm.
When I’m not at the studio, I’m happiest at home. I love reading, playing with my dog, having board game nights with my family and settling in with another episode of Gilmore Girls. My go-to is a chocolate-banana smoothie or matcha soy latte.
A few things you might not know about me: I lived in New Jersey for 3.5 years while completing part of my post-secondary schooling, I have partial heterochromia in my right eye, and I really do love my body pillow. 😂
More than anything, I want the children who spend time with me to feel safe, understood and happy to be exactly who they are.
One of my favourite parts of teaching is getting to see each child grow in their own way. Those little moments of progress are worth all the time and attention we put into creating a space where they can learn, explore and be themselves.
I’m always honoured to get to be a small part of their childhood. 💙
And if there’s one thing I hope my students carry with them this season:
Be your unique self. That’s where creativity shines the most.

Our dance friends are ready to say hello! 👋💙
Meet Bella & Bobby, Tori & Tobi, Poppy & Parker, Annie & Axl, Holly & Henry, Jazzmine & Jayson — and, of course, Buddy! 🐾
These friends are part of the adventures we create in our preschool classes, helping our youngest dancers learn through movement, music, imagination and play.
Together, we’ll try new things, learn new dance skills, cheer on our friends and build confidence along the way. 💙
We can’t wait for our dancers to meet the whole crew — and there’s still room for some new friends to join the adventure too!
Send us a message to find the perfect class for your little dancer. 💙

Hi, I’m Miss Emily! 💙
If knowing that I can sing the entirety of Hamilton from memory doesn’t tell you enough about me, I’m also someone who will happily rewatch Mamma Mia over and over. So yes… Musical Theatre being on my teaching schedule this year feels pretty fitting. 😂
This season, you’ll find me teaching Mini Prep Tap, Musical Theatre, Festival Lyrical and Tyro Ballet, plus LOTS of our preschool dancers in Teeny/Tiny, Petite and Future Stars!
This summer I spent lots of time travelling, working, celebrating my birthday and hanging out with friends. On a day off, I’m happiest going shopping or grabbing supper with friends — preferably with ice cream involved somewhere. My current favourite artist is Zach Top, and apparently my friends would describe me as outgoing, indecisive and supportive… which is probably why choosing a favourite song was completely out of the question. 😂
A couple more things you should know: my friends call me “Allen Poe” (yes, like Edgar Allan Poe), and the one thing I absolutely cannot live without is Mama Jenn. 💙
When it comes to my classroom, I want every dancer to walk out feeling valued and accomplished, every single week.
Dance has always been something I love, and teaching has given me another way to share that. I’m currently in school to become a teacher, so I love that I also get to spend my time at TDC helping dancers learn, grow and discover what they’re capable of.
And one thing I hope my dancers remember this year:
Make the most of every class — even when it isn’t your best class.
I can’t wait for Season 10! 💙

Sometimes the hardest part of signing your child up for dance is simply knowing where to start.
Maybe they’ve always talked about ballet… but light up when they hear a Hip Hop song.
Maybe they’d love Acro. Or Tap. Or Jazz.
Sometimes you just have to let them try. 💙
That’s exactly why we created the TDC Discovery Pass.
For $20 + GST, your dancer gets 7 days to explore as many eligible classes in their age group as they’d like — giving them a chance to experience different genres, teachers and class options before choosing the one that feels right.
And if they find their class and register, your $20 Discovery Pass fee goes toward their registration fee.
No guessing. No choosing from a class description and hoping for the best.
Just a week to try, explore and find their fit.
Interested in a Discovery Pass? Send us a message and we’ll help you plan their week. 💙
New dancers only. Classes must be scheduled in advance and are subject to age eligibility, prerequisites, space and availability. One visit per individual scheduled class during the 7-day pass

💙 Growing Through Movement
This Week’s Insight: Body Awareness
Before little dancers can point their toes, balance on one foot, or remember where their arms are supposed to go, they’re learning something much more basic: where their body is and how it moves.
Body awareness develops gradually — from head to toe and from the centre of the body outward. That’s one reason young children naturally want to use their whole bodies when they move!
In dance class, all of that jumping, reaching, rolling, balancing and wiggling is helping children build the brain-body connections they’ll eventually use for more controlled and refined movements.
So when it looks like they’re simply moving and playing, there’s actually a whole lot of learning happening underneath. 💙
That’s the power of purposeful play. 💙

New season, new goals. 💙
They don’t have to be huge. Maybe it’s finally getting that skill you’ve been working on, feeling stronger in class, improving your flexibility, picking up choreography faster, or simply feeling a little more confident than you did last year.
Whatever it is — write it down, make a plan, and give yourself the whole season to work on it.
Season 10 is almost here 👀
Dancers, what are we working on this year?

Hi, I’m Miss Reese! 💙
I’ve been dancing pretty much my whole life, so the studio has always been one of my happy places. Now I get to be the teacher creating that experience for someone else — which is pretty special.
And this season, I’ll be doing a LOT of it. 😂 You’ll find me teaching everything from our Teeny/Tiny and Petite dancers all the way up to Fundamental, with plenty of Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Pop and Tumblers in between!
This summer was a busy one too. I travelled to Florida to dance at Disney World, made a trip to Los Angeles, spent time at the lake with family and friends, and somehow fit in concerts for Zach Top, Megan Moroney and Daniel Caesar.
When I’m not dancing, I’m usually hanging out with friends, relaxing at home with my family, or convincing someone to go shopping and grab lunch with me. I’ve watched Modern Family more times than I can count, my current favourite song is Medicine by Megan Moroney, and there should probably always be a sweet treat involved in my day somewhere.
Also, random Miss Reese fact: I have a heart-shaped birthmark on my leg. 💙
More than anything, I want my dancers to leave class each week happy — feeling like they learned something, were challenged to grow, but still had FUN doing it.
Dance has given me a safe, positive place to express myself for so much of my life, and I want my classroom to be that place for my students too.
And if I could tell my dancers one thing going into Season 10, it would be this:
Enjoy the people you’re dancing beside. Dance friends really are the best. 💙

💙 Why I Love Teaching Intellidance Babies
One of my absolute favourite classes to teach is our Intellidance Babies class. 💙
There is something so special about watching babies discover the world around them for the very first time.
Hearing those little baby laughs, watching them discover themselves in the mirror, or seeing the wonder on their faces as they reach for bubbles will always bring me so much joy.
But one of my favourite parts actually has nothing to do with what we’re teaching.
It’s getting to connect with moms and their little ones.
Watching a parent light up as they see just how curious, capable, funny, and precious their baby is will always be a highlight of this class for me.
There are so many tiny moments in that room that might not seem like much from the outside—but when you’re there experiencing them together, they’re pretty special. 💙
If you’ve been looking for something meaningful to do with your baby this fall, we’d love to have you join us.
— Miss Carly 💙
