Last post on neck exercises.
On Monday June 29 I posted about an interesting study about exercising to reduce neck pain and headaches. The study’s results were so positive I wanted to share what exercises were used in the study.
On Tuesday I posed the Strength Neck Exercise.
On Wednesday I posed the Endurance Neck Exercise.
On Thursday I showcased my fave Magic Circle Neck Series.
And today is about the Neck Stretcher.
Joseph Pilates invented an apparatus called the “Neck Stretcher”. With other exercise names in Pilates, when the name has the word stretch in it, it’s often not about stretching, it’s about strengthening. “Long Stretch” is a plank, “Up Stretch” is a plank with an upper ab curl, “Down Stretch” is a kneeling back bend, “Knee Stretch” is about strengthening the quads. Same with the Neck Stretcher, we mainly use it to strengthen the neck flexors and extensors while trying to maintain the longest c-shape spine as possible. Todays video walks you through two of my favourites.

On Wednesday I posted the Endurance Neck Exercise.
Today I walk through a specific neck series that is my favourite. Within the Classical Pilates Method we have several exercises that strengthen the neck. The series we love the most at the studio is using the Magic Ring.
✔️Circle on Forehead (working neck flexors)
✔️Circle on Occiput (working neck extensors)
✔️Circle on side above ear (working lateral neck muscles)
✔️Circle on chin (working neck muscles and upper abdominals)

On Monday June 29 I posted about an interesting study about exercising to reduce neck pain and headaches. The study’s results were so positive I wanted to share what exercises were used in the study.
On Tuesday I posed the Strength Neck Exercise.
Today, let’s explore the Endurance Neck Exercise. The Endurance train group did one specific endurance neck exercise, plus dynamic full body exercises and specific stretching for the neck and shoulders.
Endurance Neck Exercise
lying on back, upper ab curls, 3 sets of 15 reps
Both the strength and endurance groups did the same full body workout, just different loads, sets, and reps. The endurance group did 3 sets of 20 reps. Strength group did 1 set of 15 reps, highest load possible. Dynamic exercises using dumbbells: shrugs, overhead presses, biceps curls, bent over rows, chest flys, lat pullovers.
Both groups performed trunk and bodyweight leg exercises by doing one set of squats, sit ups, and back extension exercises.
For both groups each training session finished with stretching exercises for the neck, shoulder, and upper limb. They did this three times per week for one year.

I came across a very interesting study about the effects of exercise for neck pain and headaches.
The results of the study were so positive that I filmed a bunch of videos for you to review the exercises they used in the study, as well as, provide several equivalent Pilates exercises that do the same thing as within the Classical Pilates Method we also have several exercises that strengthen the neck.
I will post one video each day this week 💪
The videos will showcase the same exercises the participants did in the study, as well as, several Pilates exercises that do the same thing.
Going to be fun to explore! Hope this helps your neck pain and/or headaches ❤️❤️❤️

Our Group Apparatus 1 classes are very special and we love them around here at the studio.
All our classes are led by a Kinesiologist (Amy) or kinesiology university student (Gwyneth). We understand movement inside and out.
We adapt each individual class to the group of clients participating.
We take the client’s injuries, issues, limitations, and ability level and program accordingly. We also listen to the advice from your physio, chiro, dr, and osteo to guide your movement in class.
Group Apparatus 1 classes focus on building functional movement patterns working with pre-Pilates (physiotherapy style exercises) and foundational Pilates exercises to build strength, endurance, coordination, balance, flexibility, and core stability.
This level is perfect for those who are new or newer to Pilates, those who need to build important muscular connections, those who like a slower transitional pace, or for those rehabilitating an injury.
All new clients are asked to attend four Group Apparatus 1 classes (or several privates) to learn the basics, before deciding whether to move up to the Group Apparatus 2 level or stick at the first level for longer. The first level sets each client up for success to become stronger for the higher level of exercises.
We have a very special offer for new clients: 4-pack of drop in Group Apparatus 1 classes at our much discounted membership rate. You get to try the studio out and see if it’s a good fit for you. Link for more info in profile.
Depending on the theme of the class, clients benefit from using a variety of Pilates Apparatus: reformer, wunda chair, tower, arm chair, barrels, and other Pilates apparatus, like foot corrector, toe corrector, 2x4, bean bag, etc.
We’d love to meet you! Please reach out with any questions or concerns you may have, we are glad to help.
Meet Denise 🤩😃
She has been a client for several years, even back when I had my home studio.
Denise was a pro basketball player while attending university, which led to some muscular imbalances and chronic injuries. While treating those is ongoing, Denise attends classes twice a week to help manage those injuries while focusing on getting stronger and healthier. She has become quite strong and comes to our most advanced classes💪 💪💪
Many of our clients mention how they love our standing reservation feature.
For clients who have memberships, they are provided with optional standing reservations in classes in their preferred days and times every week. This helps clients stay consistent and accountable to reach their personal health and fitness goals.
These standing reservations are very flexible, with the option to switch them up at any time. Also, with 24 hours notice, clients are able to cancel out their regular class and find another available class that best suits their schedule.
We love the standing reservation feature! As a personal trainer since 1999, I see time and again how important making an appointment is to sticking with your fitness program.
Thank you Denise for your continued commitment to your health, we love having you in our classes here at the studio ❤️❤️❤️

Meagan has done it again!
Our family photos for my graduation are so lovely. Thank you Meagan ❤️🤗
I started my journey to complete my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology university degree in January 2022. And graduated this Spring 2026.
I have been in the fitness industry as a certified Personal Trainer since 1999. I later added yoga teacher, group exercise instructor, and Pilates teacher certifications.
Through out my career I have always wanted to finish my degree in Kinesiology. I tried when my children were younger, but it was too much at that time.
So four years ago, I set out on my journey. It was challenging juggling family life, taking care of the pups, making time for dear friends, and opening the studio all while taking university classes. It has also been rewarding. I truly love learning, so I really enjoyed delving more into the science of movement.
Thank you to my family and friends for your support. As well as my fabulous clients who inspire me to teach. You make this career so worth it. I get to teach healing movement to such an amazing group of clients, you are a gift ❤️
Please note: two of the photos were taken at the commencement ceremony taken by me and my son Harrison. The rest were Meagan.
The last few photos I couldn’t help myself but post, Meagan took gorgeous photos of my pups: Cassie, Murphy, and Sophie 🥰❤️
