**No lessons** next week (the last few days of Sept/first few days Oct). I am doing some makeup and extra lessons this Sat (Sun we're at a horse show) if interested.

I may also do some lessons Sun Oct 4 for those wanting, but will need to confirm later. I will go to Calgary for a few days, just not sure when. We are essentially going to be closed next week and someone will stay here. Those who keep their horse here can come the week we're closed. I have some family matters so I am just not sure when exactly I will go home to Alberta for a few days.

Caution driving into the yard: We are putting up some security gates so there may be some holes and equipment around there today and the next week!

Zahara has some excess energy, and probably some feelings about being back at work.

Some horses, after time off, come back the same horse that you remembered. Zahara is not one of those horses! But she sure settles down quickly!

Caution: graphic image. It's taken a year to more or less see past the trauma of Zahara getting wedged into a fence she tried to jump while overnight at a clinic that was down the road. I am back riding her. Her knee is just a scar. It was a long and stressful recovery. The vet said her stitches would burst open at the knee and she went back on antibiotics 3 times which didn't make her like me very much. My super sweet girl would see me and turn away. It hurt to not be able to speed up her recovery or keep her knee wrapped as that caused more problems. The stress+ antibiotics really affected her.

But today she is looking and moving great. The events of last year feel more like a bad dream. We did some hydrotherapy and lots of walking miles the last two days and I've worked with her every day this week. She seems to be happy and back to herself, just more attitude than I remember.

Wish I could ride barefoot through the water in perfect weather every weekend! This is Redberry Lake, just north of us!

Just a reminder that I'm taking a week off from teaching lessons Sept 28, Sept 29, Sept 30, Oct 1 and Oct 2. We will be closed to everyone but boarders. If you'd like any make ups or extra help in the next 2 weeks, just let me know.

We will resume normal lessons the week of Oct 5th, and then there are still 4 full weeks for lessons in October.
