LISA Referee Development Officer Al Moir was recently invited to participate in a Living Library / Career Fair event at St. Patrick’s Elementary School.

Al spoke with groups of students about his role with LISA, his experiences as a referee, and the opportunities officiating can offer. Topics included:

• Refereeing as a great first job
• How he first became involved in refereeing
• How to register for a referee course
• The benefits and challenges referees experience
• The Green Armband initiative
• Referee support, development, and life skills gained through officiating

Al hopes the students were inspired to be the best they can be in whatever path they choose, and perhaps consider refereeing as their first job, just like many of the FIFA referees we’ll see at this summer’s World Cup once did.

We look forward to seeing some of these students at an upcoming referee course!
