Some notes to recap this morning's online training:
Warm up - Fighting combinations. We started with a simple 1-2 oi tsuki, gyaku tsuki. Build upon that. As always, focus on the proper technique, stance and breathing.
Oi tusk
Gyaku kage Tsuki
Gyaku chudan mai KAKATO geri - This is different than a chusoku mai geri. The difference is subtle and should be reflected on.
Oi chudan mawashi geri - focus on wight distribution and balance between the 2 kicks. Make sure you return to a good kumte kamae after each kick.
Kata review:
Yantsu
Gessai sono Ni - we focused on the mawashi chi uke. Again, the difference is subtle and should be reflected on.
Remember: Kata should not be a mindless series of movements. You should focus on the techniques, movement, pace and breathing. Try to visualize the movements in a fighting or bunkai context. Moving meditation.
Kyokushin.net is a fantastic resource with great information for solo practice. I strongly encourage you to check it out.
These online trainings are held once a month and are open to 6th kyu and higher belts. They are a great opportunity for supplemental training and a nice way to start a Sunday morning!
