Head coach Mike laughing, probably after a quick joke to a member who is using way too much chalk.

At Crossfit Limestone we like to work hard, but just as important we like to have fun while working out.

See you in the gym!

Today's workout includes sprints on the Assault Bike after back squats.
We believe every adult should do some type of sprinting workout whether it is outside running, on the bike or pushing sleds. Sprints are great for:
šŸ‹ļøā€ā™€ļø Athletic performance (boost VO2 max more effectively)
šŸƒā€ā™€ļøā€āž”ļø Body composition (release growth hormone which supports fat metabolism and muscle maintenance
šŸ«€Cardiovascular health (lowers resting heart rate)
🧠 Hormones (release dopamine and endorphins response)
🦓Helps with connective tissue (strengthen ligaments and tendons)

And leaves you way less sore than 150 wall balls....

Getting a good sweat on at the gym lately?

August heat can sneak up on you. If you're training hard and sweating more you might need more than just water to feel your best.

This blog post talks about electrolytes, hydrating foods, and how much water you should really be drinking to skip the fatigue, headaches, dizziness, constipation, poor performance, or drop in energy and focus that can come from dehydration.

You can find the link to the full article in our August email newsletter.

We love lifting barbells and we love doing body weight movements.

Today's programming consists of some clean & jerks for strength followed by some pull up progressions for our conditioning.

See you in the gym!!

Here’s what we’re working on this month at Limestone Athletics:

Summer Running: We’re taking advantage of the summer days with continued running work. Expect a blend shorter and longer distances to build endurance while enjoying the sunshine.

Back Squat Testing: It is time to test your back squat strength. This is a chance to see where you are at, apply what you have built, and set a new benchmark for the coming months.

Olympic Lifting Waves: We are shifting our Olympic lifting focus from snatches to the clean and jerk. This month’s waves will help you develop power, timing, and confidence through the full lift.

See you at the gym!

Meet Tara!
A full-time Labour & Delivery nurse, wife of 29 years, and mom of three grown kids, Tara started CrossFit at Limestone Athletics in January 2025 inspired by her friend and former nursing mentee, Sylvia.

Since then, CrossFit has changed her life. It’s shown her she’s capable of far more than she imagined and taught her that health and fitness aren’t about a specific size, but about feeling strong and confident.

Lately she’s celebrating handstand progress, chasing pull-ups, and happily showing up to workouts with movements like dumbbell snatches and single-unders. However, she would be voting to ban thrusters, burpees, and wall balls if she could.

Read the full member feature on Tara in our August email newsletter.
