Another Black Spur Ultra in the books!
And another year of aid-station shenanigans up at the K-Haus(CP 1/4), this year with Brent Harris and Pascal Gray. Thanks for 26hrs of laughs and questionable dietary choices fellas!
Whether you participated or volunteered yourself, thanks for being part of the magic that makes this race special.
Congrats to everyone that towed the line, whether you finished or not, as the day took no prisoners.
Thanks for making the trip here to celebrate our trails in Kimbo❤️
Hope to see you again next year at the top of the skihill 🤘

PSA for those making plans in the Cranbrook area next week:
Mause Creek/Tanglefoot Trail will be closed on Monday, August 10 and Tuesday, August 11 while materials and tools are flown in for site upgrades. This means that camping areas at Tanglefoot Lake and Mause Creek Tarns will be temporarily restricted.
For your safety, please respect closures, signage, and instructions from personnel on site.

Sometimes it’s all in the name 😉
Treasure treasure !! joined us here at Purcell at the end of April and has more than lived up to her name! When she’s not here at the shoppe or out hiking, you can find her other gig digging for archeological artifacts
“I’ve always loved being in the outdoors, from hiking and camping to fishing and lake days.
Being able to join this amazing community that this shop has built is so amazing! Being a part of this team has proven to be wonderful and I’m so happy that I get to have this opportunity before heading to Van island for school in the Fall:)”
And I’m happy to have the opportunity to have her at the store this summer 😊

More proof of the kids being alright(and very motivated)is this young man: Ben!
Ben has called Kimberley home for seven years now, and it’s hard to imagine a better place for someone who loves being outside.
When he’s not in high school or here at the store, you can find him running or biking our awesome trails, snowboarding, fly fishing, and (gasp)golfing…nobody’s perfect Ben, but you’re close 😉
Running has been a big part of his life for the past four years.
In his word “I enjoy the challenge of it — running long distances, exploring new trails, and seeing what I’m capable of. I am the youngest ever finisher of the Sinister Sports Black Spur Ultra. I did that for the first time when I was 13, and I do that every year. I’m also looking forward to the Stag Leap Running Co. Elk Valley Ultra this Summer as well. Kimberley has no shortage of great terrain to explore, and I’m still finding new favourite spots.”
Ben started working with us at the shoppe last November. From helping you find your next favourite trail shoes to helping take care of the recycling, he is a clutch team member here at Purcell 😊

⚠️ Wildlife Alert ⚠️
There is a recent deer kill just past the Higgins Street entrance. A small buck carcass is located a short distance beyond the bridge, and a gut pile is visible just off the right side of the main trail.
Please use caution when walking in the area and keep dogs on leash, as scavengers and predators may be attracted to the site.

If you’ve been in the shop over the last couple of weeks, you might’ve noticed this familiar friendly face in the store, when reached out to see if she could help out at the store this summer, I couldn’t say Yes fast enough!
This wonderful human is a great reminder that this kids are alright afterall 😉
Here’s a little bit about Gabby:
‘Growing up in Kimberley and having a huge passion for the outdoors I spend a lot of my time outside all year round. Wether it’s biking, hiking, climbing, running or just soaking up the sun at a lake in the summer to shredding some laps at a resort or in the backcountry in the winter I’m usually always up to something. As a majority of my gear comes from Purcell Outdoors I was drawn to the company and I am so stoked to now be working here and a part of the team. The gear and the people are awesome!’
I’m so friggin’ stoked to have you on the Purcell team!!! ☺️
