First Phase of Nova Scotia’s Menopause Centre of Excellence Moves Forward
February 18, 2026
This is a BIG moment for women’s health in Nova Scotia.
Today, the Province announced that the first phase of what will become Canada’s first Menopause Centre of Excellence is officially moving forward, with plans for a specialized menopause clinic expected to open in Winter 2026–2027.
This clinic will be dedicated to supporting women through perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause, with care designed specifically for the complex symptoms and health changes that far too many women have been left to navigate alone.
Nova Scotia has nearly 350,000 women over the age of 40, and for decades, menopause care has been treated as an afterthought in the healthcare system.
This announcement represents progress. Real progress.
What we know so far:
The clinic is expected to include a team of specialized providers such as:
✔️ General Practitioner
✔️ Registered Nurse
✔️ Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist
✔️ Dietitian
✔️ Gynecologist
And most importantly, it will offer both in-person and virtual care provincewide, helping women across Nova Scotia access support without unnecessary barriers.
This initiative is being led by the Department of Health and Wellness, in partnership with the Menopause Society of Nova Scotia, IWK Health, and Nova Scotia Health.
Why this matters:
A Centre of Excellence is built on three pillars:
Clinical Care, Research, and Education
and over time, those research and education components will be added to strengthen the future of women’s healthcare.
This is the kind of work that should have been done years ago, but today we acknowledge the win.
Because menopause is not “just hot flashes.”
It’s mental health.
It’s cardiovascular risk.
It’s sleep deprivation.
It’s hormone shifts.
It’s identity changes.
It’s nervous system disruption.
It’s burnout.
It’s real.
And women deserve real care.
At MenopauseCoach.ca, we will continue advocating, educating, and supporting women through this chapter with clarity, compassion, and evidence-based wellness tools.
This is a step forward and I’ll be watching closely to ensure it stays a priority.
Because women’s health is not optional.
It’s essential.
💛 Stay tuned I’ll be sharing updates as this project continues to unfold.

Midlife changes aren’t “just aging.” Share and tag this post and you would get a complimentary hormone healthy cook book ♥
If you’re dealing with disrupted sleep, sudden anxiety, brain fog, joint pain, weight shifts, or a nervous system that feels constantly on edge, your body isn’t broken. It’s changing.
I just published a new blog, Estrogen, Aging, and Women’s Health, because perimenopause and menopause are biological transitions, not illnesses. Estrogen decline affects the brain, nervous system, heart, bones, metabolism, and more. Understanding this gives women real choices.
This is not fear based care. It’s physiology based care.
We talk about why estrogen is a whole body hormone, why progesterone balance matters, what women with a uterus need to know, and how to support your body whether or not hormone therapy is right for you.
As menopause educator Kelly Casperson says, hormones help healthy cells stay healthy. That’s longevity care.
If you’ve felt dismissed or confused by midlife changes, this article is for you.
Read it. Learn your options.
You are your own best advocate.
Estrogen, Aging, and Women’s Health - Hormone Therapy
And too often, women are told this is simply aging and something they must tolerate. That message is outdated.

Perimenopause & Menopause Support – Now Opening
The only location of its kind in Nova Scotia
Perimenopause and menopause are not something to “push through.” They are a season of profound change, and for many women, they arrive with little preparation, limited support, and far too much silence.
Holistic support is designed to work alongside the care you are already receiving from your medical team, not replace it. By addressing lifestyle, nutrition, nervous system regulation, emotional wellbeing, and mindset, holistic solutions can help support balance, resilience, and overall quality of life during perimenopause and menopause. When combined with your current medical plan, this integrative approach offers additional tools to help you better understand your body, respond to its changing needs, and feel more supported as you navigate this season with confidence and clarity.
This stage of life can bring shifts in hormones, sleep, mood, energy, weight, confidence, identity, and emotional wellbeing. It can feel confusing, isolating, and overwhelming. Support and understanding matter here.
I am opening the only dedicated support location of its kind in Nova Scotia focused on navigating perimenopause and menopause through education, coaching, and whole-person support.
Services will include:
• Perimenopause and menopause coaching
• Menopause-friendly meal plans to support hormones, energy, and metabolism
• Lifestyle and nervous system support
• Hypnotherapy to assist with sleep, stress, emotional regulation, and habit change
• Ongoing guidance as your body and needs evolve
This is not about fixing you. It is about supporting your body, your mind, and your lived experience through one of the most transformative seasons of life.
Appointments begin in February, with booking details shared soon.
You deserve informed, compassionate support in this season and a place that truly understands what you are navigating.

Menopause is not a decline. It’s a reclamation.
Your body is asking you to listen differently, move differently, and live more honestly.
This season strips away what no longer fits so you can stand rooted in who you really are.
You are not losing yourself.
You are meeting her again.

A New Year and a Powerful Season of Becoming
A new year has a way of inviting reflection without pressure. It gives us space to pause and ask honest questions. How do I want to feel this year? What does my body need now? What am I ready to let go of and what do I want to build differently?
This season of life asks us to stop forcing ourselves to move the way we always have and start listening more closely to what actually supports us. Perimenopause and menopause are not something to push through. They are a transition that deserves care, understanding, and tools that fit real life.
The Menopause Coach Is Becoming Your Pocket Coach
TheMenopauseCoach.ca is growing into a space you can return to again and again. Think of it as your menopause pocket coach. Practical. Supportive. Grounded in real experience.
Over the coming months you will see more resources added to support you through this season, including recipes that are simple and nourishing, downloadable workbooks to help you track patterns and reset habits, monthly Zoom calls for education and connection, and opportunities for one on one support when you need something more personal.
This is about giving you options and meeting you where you are. No overwhelm. No perfection. Just support that makes sense for this stage of life.
A Season Full of Energy and Connection
There is also so much happening beyond the screen.
We are gearing up for Roper Rage on May 2, a celebration rooted in connection, laughter, and the joy of being exactly who we are in this season of life. It is a reminder that midlife is not about shrinking or sitting things out. It is about showing up, gathering together, and making room for fun alongside responsibility.
This season holds both depth and lightness. Healing and celebration. Rest and momentum.
Stepping Into the Year With Intention
You do not need a complete overhaul to move forward. Sometimes what changes everything is simply choosing to pay attention to yourself again.
This year is an invitation to support your body with kindness, to honour your energy, and to give yourself permission to evolve. The Menopause Coach is here to walk alongside you as you do that, offering guidance, tools, and community as this year unfolds.
Welcome to a new year and a powerful season of becoming.

Menopause Over the Holidays: A Survival Story
Ah yes… the holidays.
A time of joy, family, food, laughter… and suddenly needing to open a window in December because your internal thermostat has chosen chaos.
If you see me:
• Fanning myself next to the Christmas tree
• Wearing layers I aggressively remove and reapply
• Laughing one minute, tearing up at a Hallmark commercial the next
• Questioning my life choices over a plate of carbs
Just know, I am festive and menopausal. Both can be true.
This season isn’t about “holding it together.”
It’s about honoring a body that’s rewriting the rules in real time.
So here’s your permission slip: Drink the wine (or don’t). Say no to the chaos. Take breaks. Laugh at the madness. Rest when your body asks. And stop apologizing for being human.
Menopause isn’t ruining the holidays.
It’s just reminding us to slow down, turn inward, and stop pretending we’re fine when we’re actually overheating.
We’re not falling apart.
We’re recalibrating.

Perimenopause Explained: The Real Story No One Explained to Us
Perimenopause is a natural, powerful biological transition that occurs in the years leading up to menopause. It is a phase of hormonal reorganization that can begin as early as your late 30s and for many women continues well into their late 40s or early 50s. This transition can last anywhere from tw...
