Growing the female game means growing every part of the game — and that includes the next generation of girls wearing the stripes!

Did you know players can start their officiating journey at just 12 years old? It’s another way for our girls to learn the game, build confidence, take on leadership roles and stay involved in hockey.

Hockey Nova Scotia is hosting all-female officiating clinics next weekend in Dartmouth — Level 1 (ages 12+) & Level 2 (ages 15+ or two seasons at Level 1).

The more our young players see women and girls playing, coaching, officiating and leading, the more places they can see for themselves in this game. 💙

BIG congratulations to Mikaelle “Mika” Foster on her commitment to Mount Academy U18 Female Hockey!

After three seasons in Valley Wild colours — two with U13 AAA and last season with U15 AAA — Mika is taking her game to the next level as a Grade 9 student-athlete at Mount Academy. 🙌

We LOVE seeing our Wild girls chase big opportunities, take big steps and keep pushing their game forward.

⚽️💙 GIRLS IN SPORT: SUMMER EDITION — FIRST UP, SOCCER!

Before the skates are sharpened and another Valley Wild season gets underway, we’re looking back at where our girls have been showing up all summer.

And for A LOT of them… it’s been on the pitch. ⚽️

From summer tournaments through the VDSA District Championships and now Provincials, we’ve loved seeing Valley Wild girls scattered across soccer fields throughout the Valley and beyond — sometimes as teammates and sometimes lining up across from one another.

And there’s been plenty to celebrate! 👏

⚽️ U15A KGSC Verran — 🥈 at the Eden Valley Kickoff Tournament, 🥈 at VDSA Districts and competing at Provincials in Lunenburg this weekend.

⚽️ U13B KWSC Kickham — 🥇 at the Amanda Forrester Tournament, 🥇 at VDSA Districts and now in Cape Breton chasing Provincial Gold!

⚽️ U13B KGSC Wolfe/Canning — 🥇 at the Eden Valley Kickoff Tournament, 🥉 at VDSA Districts and earned their way to Provincials in Cape Breton to cap off a great summer season.

But as much as we LOVE seeing our girls succeed, this isn’t really about the medals.

It’s about girls in sport. 💙

Watching them grow as athletes is pretty great. Watching them grow as teammates, leaders and people? Even better.

Competing hard. Being worthy opponents. Carrying themselves with positivity, integrity and respect. Learning how to win, how to lose and how to show up well through both.

And along those sidelines? Some pretty great moms stepping up to coach and lead, too. That kind of visibility matters — it shows our girls that there’s a place for them at every level of sport. 💙

We love hockey — but we LOVE seeing our girls being athletes, building friendships, competing, learning and growing wherever their sport takes them. 🏒⚽️
