Nobody plans a week on Lake of the Woods for the smallmouth.
Then they hook one over a boulder field in eight feet of water and the walleye rods stay in the rod holder for the rest of the afternoon.
Clear water, rocky shorelines, thousands of islands and reef systems. Spring fish sit shallow on gravel and boulders in three to ten feet. By July they spread out over points and offshore rock in eight to twenty five, and a calm morning on topwater out there is the kind of thing guys are still talking about at dinner. In the fall they group up and feed hard before winter.
Save this one. It is the fish most people up here underestimate.

September on this lake was booked out. Then a corporate group cancelled their week.
If you called about September and we told you we were full, this is the call back.
Cooling water is when the pike come back out of the deep and start eating again, and the big Muskies are feeding putting weight on for winter. The back lakes fish the same as they always do, which is to say you are the only boat on them.
If your schedule has any room in it, call us at 1-800-547-3474 or email: [email protected].
We will tell you what is actually open.

The walleye you found in June are not there in August.
They did not leave the lake. They moved out to structure, and once you know the pattern you can find them all summer.
Post-spawn fish hold shallow on rock and early w**d growth in five to fifteen feet. By July most of them are out on reefs, humps and mud flats in fifteen to thirty, and vertical jigging over a school beats covering water. The shallow bite is still there in the cabbage and the mud, so we check both before we commit to a day.
Swipe through for the full breakdown, and save it for when you are planning your week.

Same island, same lake, two completely different ways to spend the week at Crow Rock.
One week is fully looked after. The other is entirely your own. Neither is better, they are just built for different groups.
At the lodge, you fish and we handle the rest. A lakefront cabin, daily housekeeping, and three meals a day, breakfast before the boats leave and three plated courses at night.
At Sunset Point, you get a three-bedroom chalet on your own point of the island. Your kitchen, your schedule, nine of you and no one else. The lodge is the classic trip. Sunset Point is the one for old friends and the two-family week when you want the place to yourselves.
Not sure which one is your group? Reach out. We will help you figure it out.
