📚 The backpacks are packed, the pencils are sharpened, and the playground is ready for action!

Back to school means back to big imaginations, new friendships, fresh challenges, and recesses worth racing to.

School playgrounds do far more than fill the space between classes. They give children room to move, reset, explore, build confidence, and connect with one another every single day.

Play does not end when summer does. It becomes part of the school day, supporting learning, movement, creativity, and all the moments that make a school feel like a community.

Here’s to a year filled with curious minds, muddy shoes, loud laughter, and plenty of time to play.

From everyone at Parkworks, happy back to school!

🐶 Happy International Dog Day!

Parks are for the whole community, including the four-legged members.

A well-placed bench creates a comfortable spot to pause and connect. Pet-friendly drinking fountains keep everyone refreshed. Convenient litter and recycling bins help keep shared spaces clean, welcoming, and ready for the next adventure.

These everyday amenities do more than support a walk around the block. They encourage people to stay longer, explore more, connect with neighbours, and enjoy more time outdoors.

Here’s to the dogs that get us moving, lead us down new trails, and make every trip to the park a little more fun. 🌳🐶

📍 Feature Project: Edith McDermott Elementary School – Pitt Meadows, BC

A playground designed so more children can join the adventure. 💚✨

When Edith McDermott Elementary School set out to revitalize its aging playground, the goal was to create a more welcoming space for a wider range of ages, abilities, and ways of playing.

Parkworks helped bring that vision to life with an inclusive playground designed to encourage movement, sensory exploration, confidence, connection, and shared play.

Accessible routes, transfer points, varied challenges, and engaging play experiences give more children the freedom to explore, participate alongside their peers, and play in the way that feels right for them.

Connected to neighbouring Somerset Park, the new playground also welcomes families and community members beyond the school day, creating even more opportunities to gather, connect, and play together!

✨ The playground might steal the spotlight, but the surfacing is doing some of the most important work.

The right surfacing does far more than cushion falls. It supports safety and accessibility, shapes how people move through the space, and influences how the playground performs over time.

From poured-in-place rubber to engineered wood fibre and more, the right choice depends on your community, budget, maintenance goals, and the experience you want to create.

Choose well, and the entire playground works better from the ground up.

Planning a new play space or upgrading an existing one? Parkworks can help you find a surfacing solution that supports your site, your goals, and the way your community plays.

🏰 A playground can be more than a place to play. It can become part of a community’s identity.

Themed play spaces turn ordinary parks into places people remember.

They can bring local history to life, celebrate culture, reflect the surrounding landscape, and create adventures that feel completely unique to the community they call home.

When a playground truly belongs to its setting, the impact reaches far beyond play. Families stay longer. Visitors return. The park becomes a landmark, a gathering place, and part of the story people tell about where they live.

That’s the power of thoughtful placemaking: creating spaces that could not belong anywhere else.

🤸 A log is never just a log.

It’s a balance beam. A bridge. A lookout. Maybe even the start of a whole new world.

That’s the magic of nature play! It gives children the freedom to explore, imagine, take healthy risks, and decide for themselves what happens next.

As they climb, balance, dig, build, and discover, they’re also strengthening coordination, confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills. They’re learning through movement, curiosity, and a little bit of mud.

For communities, nature-inspired play creates more than a playground. It creates a place that feels connected to its surroundings, welcomes families in, and gives children more reasons to get outside and stay awhile.

Ready to bring a little more wild into your community? Let’s make it happen!

🌿✨The best community spaces start with a bold idea.

An idea that gets kids climbing higher, neighbours connecting, families staying longer, and communities coming back again and again.

At Parkworks, we help bring those ideas to life! From playgrounds and splash pads to pump tracks, outdoor fitness, and gathering spaces, we work alongside our partners from the first conversation through to the final installation.

We bring the products, experience, and support to keep projects moving and help big ideas become places people can actually experience.

Places to move. Places to connect. Places to play.

Let’s create one your community won’t want to leave!
