Another amazing multi-day backpacking trip in the North Thompson area. Warm temps, but minor smoke, incredible scenery and beautiful camping spots.

Back to the Thompson region, Adams River to be exact.

Now my own images of a sadly disappearing Vowell glacier, which I spent 3 summers visiting. Photos are in order: 1990, 1997 and 2008.

Thanks to Bill Summers for creating and sharing this comparison at the Trident basecamp. Glacial recession is very real and very sad.

Back from our trip to the Trident/Neptune area. Weather was iffy- lots of rain, limited visibility at times, but Tim and I enjoyed our journey.
Thanks to the for organizing the GMC.

Some places have a way of drawing you back.

I'm excited to be heading into the remote Trident–Neptune area once again with the for a week of climbing. It's a spectacular corner of the Selkirks—rugged, wild, and far from the crowds.

The area also brings back great memories. I was fortunate to spend much of the summers of 2002 and 2009 there with the General Mountaineering Camp (GMC), exploring peaks, making lifelong friendships, and sharing unforgettable alpine experiences.

Looking forward to another week of mountains, good company, and whatever adventures await.

Today, on the summer solstice—the longest day of the year—I’m thinking of my Dad. Had he still been with us, he would have turned 122. Happy Father's Day

"Bill" was born in Galena, BC, on June 21, 1904. We lost him in 1993, but not before he shared countless stories from a remarkable life. As his world became smaller with age, his memories seemed to grow larger. He loved recounting adventures on the trail with people such as Phyllis Munday, Charles D. Walcott, Conrad Kain, J. Monroe Thorington and the pictured Don Vockeroth.

My friend Cyril Shokoples wrote a tribute to my Dad, here is his recall,https://colwest.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Harrisons.pdf

Take care.
