What a good looking group!
On March 7, our team skied to Hale Hut - approximately 9km round trip along our namesake Toby Creek and a perfect ski destination in the Columbia Valley.
The Hale Hut was built in 2000 by Toby Creek Nordic volunteers, and named after the Hale family, who were instrumental in building our club, and supporting Nordic skiing in the Columbia Valley.
This is an annual team tradition, and what makes this year particularly special is every single one of our skiers skied the entire distance, some as young as 5 years old!
Huge shout-out to everyone for another wonderful season. There is still snow on the trails so get out there and take advantage of the snow while you still can

Folks, in the interest of public safety the Whiteway is closed
The ice is no longer safe and the pressure cracks are uncrossable. Please stay off the ice, and away from the pressure cracks. If you go on the lake, you do so at your own risk.

The cross-country tracks are still there, but they're getting icy. The ice skating currently looked good, but it’s not 100% solid underneath with a layer of water.
Note that last night was the first night it didn’t go below zero and the forecast is calling for above zero all week with highs above zero.
With this warm weather, if you are out on the Whiteway please stay away from the pressure cracks. They are weak, and we don't want anyone falling in.
Brad is working hard to keep the Whiteway going as long as we can, as safely as we can. Stay tuned for updates as conditions change, prioritize your safety, and remember this is wild ice so use it at your own risk.

Brad was out on Lake Windermere today, laying down a new classic track, refurbishing the skate ski lane and doing three passes with the quad plow on the ice.
The ice skating is good on the south side of the pressure crack but not very good in Kinsman Bay. The pressure cracks seem to be holding up well no sign of any open water.
Warmer weather coming this week so get out on the Whiteway as soon as you can before conditions turn again. Remember, you're skating at your own risk so take extra precautions at all times, especially as you approach any cracks.

Lillian and Johnson are ready for you 😎. Here's the update from Brad
Went up to Lake Lillian this morning, packed the adaptive trail, put a classic trail down on junior Johnson and packed the other trails that I’ve been looking at.
Just enough snow to set a classic trail with natural hazards.
I also packed the parking lot on both sides of the road.
I went out onto Lake Lillian and put a walking path and two classic tracks and a skate ski lane which I would label as 10 out of 10.
Get out there and enjoy it!

Folks, the Whiteway has been groomed! Keep in mind that quality and safety has been very unpredictable this season.tje second photo here shows a pressure crack - please please stay away and use caution.
Enjoy the outdoors safely and at your own risk. A reminder that the Whiteway is wild ice and not an indoor hockey rink. Conditions can change day to day or even hour to hour, but we're good to go tomorrow.
Lillian is getting groomed tomorrow
