The weather is still beautiful and although we’re not ready to let summer go, we are always looking forward into the coming months!

We are very excited to share some opportunities we have for part board, leases or riding time for anyone who is looking for some saddle time this fall and winter!

🦄 Romeo is a 7 year old 17hh friesian gelding. (He's pictured in the first 6 photos) He's not for a beginner or nervous rider as he's very sporty, forward and a fancy mover.
He has shown up to 1st level dressage and is now schooling 2nd and 3rd level movements while better developing his canter and laterals. He can also go western as I have both sets of tack available for him. Romeo has the sweetest temperament and is easy to catch and handle. He's available for 2-3 rides a week.

🦄🦄Avani (Romeo's mom) is a Friesian mare standing 15.3hh.
She was a broodmare most of her life with her previous owners. She has been restarted under saddle and has come along great. She's fairly confident and is currently being used a few times a week in western lessons. She also will be continuing her education in dressage. Avani is super sweet and easy to handle. She's more laid back. Available for 2-3 rides a week. She can also go western or English. Western lessons can be made available to ensure proper riding techniques are being used in-house.

🦄🦄🦄King is a 17 year old Arabian gelding. Just under 15hh. He is green broke to ride western. He has a sweet personality, is kind and loveable, however in true Arabian style, he can be hot and shy. He has lovely movement, very fast extended trot and good brakes. He would be considered a restart and would require someone with experience either in the breed or of his energy level. He would be available for a low-cost companion lease for someone who wanted to work on ground work and work their way up or other options to include saddle time can be discussed as well.

🦄🦄🦄🦄 Betsy is an 8 year old pony mare. She is 10.3 HH. She is extremely sweet, but is shy and has a very quiet personality. She has some sort of liberty training/experience and is lovely to work with on the lunge line. She is blind in one eye, and does tend to shy away if touched without her knowing you are there. She has been ridden by children as young as 6 years old, however she can be a hand full. She is being made available to a handy youth or very petite adult only. Not for beginners.

All horses are boarded together in Ingersoll, ON. Western lessons are available on site if required. Indoor and outdoor arenas.
Super quiet facility with a very welcoming atmosphere.
Showing can be an option with the right individual.

This past Saturday was a beauty day to host a show for our Grey Dove students!
These students have been working so hard to learn skills, improve technique, learn the patterns and bond with our amazing lesson horses! This was a first show experience for many of them!

Each student did an AMAZING job! They embodied all the skills of good horsemanship, team building and supporting and cheering on other riders!

This journey has been so heart warming and incredibly rewarding. Watching these girls love on these ponies and horses and tell me about their goals, their days and all the things they want to learn has really healed a part of me that needed healing.

A BIG thank you to the parents, who trust me with their children and trust these big, loving horses to teach, build confidence and provide endless memories!

I am forever grateful for this barn, these horses and the life we lead with kindness and grit 🤍🤍

Sometimes we as riding instructors have imposter syndrome rear its ugly head and wonder if we’re actually good enough to be teaching.

Maybe you watch another instructor explain something effortlessly and think, “Why didn’t I think of that?”

Or maybe a student asks a question and you don’t immediately know how to answer.

Perhaps it is rider reaches a new level and suddenly you’re wondering whether you have enough knowledge, enough exercises, enough experience, enough *something* to keep helping them progress.

That little voice starts asking...
What if they outgrow me?
What if another instructor could teach this better?
What if I’m just repeating the same things because I don’t know what else to do?

Most good instructors have moments like this and the answer is not that you need to know everything because you don’t. The best instructors I know are constantly adding to their teaching toolbox. They learn new exercises. They find different ways to explain familiar concepts. They revisit fundamentals. They borrow ideas, adapt them, test them, and keep developing right alongside their students.

Being a good instructor isn’t about having every answer already stored in your head. It’s about being willing to keep learning.

That is one of the reasons I created the Horse Riding Lesson Plans & Summer Camp Curriculum online library.

Yes, it gives you lessons to pull out when you’re staring at tomorrow’s schedule wondering what on earth you’re going to teach but it can also be a professional-development resource.

A place to discover exercises you haven’t used before. Different ways to teach a skill you’ve taught hundreds of times. Progressions for riders who are ready for more. Variations for riders who need another approach and ideas that make you stop and think, “I could use that.”

As your students progress, your teaching has to evolve with them. That doesn’t mean you need to have every exercise, explanation, or progression figured out on your own. Good instructors keep adding to their toolbox and there’s nothing wrong with using resources to help you do that.

Alex and I have been so incredibly blessed with the community we’ve been curating.
We have been working so hard, in and out of the barn to forge relationships, run businesses and still find the joy in everyday life.

We are so thankful for a barn full of lovely people, kind horses and strangers who have turned into close friends!

We are incredibly thankful for Wildflower Western for keeping us in style and comfortable while in the barn, on the circuit and out on the town.
Actistatin Canada for giving us the tools to keep our horses healthy, sound and ready to run!!

We hosted our first show at Grey Dove Acres this past Saturday! We invited our boarders to try on some western tack, cowboy hats and participate in some western games!
The sun was shining, horses so well behaved and we have some talented riders!

We ended the show with a ‘husband class’ and these guys really put on a show for all our spectators!

Stay tuned as we plan some jackpots, barrel practices and more events along the way!

Alex Foster Farrier Service really came through and made some custom pole bending poles for our outdoor arena 😍
