๐ง Temporary Removal and Remounting of Silhouettes ๐ง
Residents may notice some of the newly installed silhouettes being temporarily removed from locations on the Hill over the coming days.
As part of ongoing project coordination and safety improvements, some silhouettes will be taken down and reinstalled for two reasons:
๐ FortisAlberta Infrastructure Renewal Work
FortisAlberta will be replacing a number of light poles along Switzer Drive as part of its infrastructure renewal program. While the Town received approval to install the silhouettes at these locations, the timing of Fortis' construction is determined independently by Fortis.
๐ง Additional Mounting Support
It has also been identified that some silhouettes require additional mounting support. As a precaution, those pieces will be temporarily removed while reinforcement work is completed to ensure they can be safely secured for the long term. This work is expected to begin Monday, August 31.
๐จ To help protect the artwork, the Town has arranged for the affected silhouettes to be removed and remounted by Town staff and contractors. Once the necessary work is complete, the silhouettes will be reinstalled as soon as possible.
โจ We recognize these pieces have quickly become a special part of the community's streetscape and appreciate everyone's patience while this work is underway.
๐๏ธ The Silhouettes Colouring Contest remains open, and residents can continue exploring the remaining installations and participating through September 1.
