Saint Mary's Huskies women's hockey head coach Chris Larade is pleased to announce the commitment of defender Jenna Turner for the 2026-27 season.

A defender from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Turner joins the Huskies from the Winnipeg Avros (Manitoba Female Hockey League U18) and Shaftesbury High School.

Over two seasons with the Winnipeg Avros in the U18 AAA Manitoba Female Hockey League, Turner recorded 21 points (three goals, 18 points) in 42 games played.

"Jenna is a solid blueliner that we think can provide great depth for us," says Huskies head coach Chris Larade. "Having dealt with some injuries this past season, I think she flew under the radar a bit and we are luck to add her. She has strong 1v1 defending ability with a good stick and isn't afraid to jump up in the play."

An honour role student, Turner won the 2026 Hockey Manitoba Bill Addison Memorial Scholarship for her achievements on the ice and in the classroom and her community.

"I am super excited to be attending SMU next year!" says Jenna. "I am looking forward to living on the East Coast, meeting new people and playing hockey at a higher level!"

Turner will be studying a Bachelor of Commerce at Saint Mary's.

Saint Mary's men's soccer head coach Mesut Mert is pleased to announce the commitment of Amare Valente-Boateng to the Huskies line-up for the upcoming 2026 season.

A 6'1" striker from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Amare Valente-Boateng joins the Huskies out of St. Mary's College and London Whitecaps FC.

Valente-Boateng led the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL) in scoring in the 2025 summer season, scoring 23 goals in just 18 games. He's also represented the London Whitecaps at the U20 level, and was named Whitecaps Academy Player of the Month in May 2025.

Valente-Boateng is described as a dynamic striker, known for his pace, finishing, and attacking instincts. He is a hardworking forward with a strong goal-scoring ability and a constant threat in the final third.

"Going to Saint Mary's University is a blessing and an exciting new chapter in my life," says Amare. "I thank God for giving me this opportunity, and I'm excited to continue my education, compete at a high level, and grow both on and off the field. I'm grateful for everyone who has supported me along the way, and I'm ready to see what God has planned for me."

Valente-Boateng will be studying a Bachelor of Science at Saint Mary's, with plans to major in Biology.

Saint Mary's Huskies women's hockey head coach Chris Larade is pleased to announce the commitment of forward Dara Thompson for the 2026-27 season.

A 5'6" forward from Virden, Manitoba, Thompson joins the Huskies as a transfer from the Mount Royal University Cougars (U SPORTS – Canada West).

Thompson appeared in 20 regular season games with the Cougars across the 2024-25 & 2025-26 seasons, recording six assists.

She previously played with the Yellowhead Chiefs of the U18 AAA Manitoba Female Hockey League, scoring 29 points (16 goals and 13 assists) in 36 games in the 2023-24 season.

"Dara is a 3rd year transfer coming to us from CanWest that I think will fit it in well with our style of play," says Huskies head coach Chris Larade. "She has an ability to finish and think the game offensively while not cheating the game. We look forward to seeing her in a Huskies jersey soon."

Thompson describes herself as a hardworking player with a positive and humble attitude, and a desire to get better every practice and game.

"I am beyond thrilled to be joining the Huskies women's roster for the 2026-27 season!" says Dara. "I am excited to meet all the girls and coaches and join a program as great as SMU. I am looking forward to life on the East Coast and can't wait for the Fall!"

Thompson will be studying a Bachelor of Arts at Saint Mary's, with plans to major in Linguistics.

Saint Mary's Huskies women's hockey head coach Chris Larade is pleased to announce the commitment of forward Annie McDonnell for the 2026-27 season.

A 5'4" forward from Ottawa, Ontario, McDonnell joins the Huskies from the East Ottawa Junior Stars (Ontario Women's Hockey League U22 AA) and St. Pius X High School.

In the 2025-26 OWHL U22 AA season, McDonnell recorded 20 points (11 goals and 13 assists) in 48 games played.

"Annie is another smart two-way forward to has shown a knack for keeping plays alive on the offensive side, and has shown a good combination of creativity and compete," says Huskies head coach Chris Larade. "We look forward to her joining our team."

McDonnell is described by coaches as soft-spoken but fierce and physical, and one of the best two-way players in the game. She competes hard in all three zones and is trusted in every key situation — power play, penalty kill, last minute of a period — you name it, she's out there. Her consistency, work ethic, high compete level and complete 200-foot game make her an impact player every night.

"My family has visited the East Coast every summer and I always pictured myself going to university there," says Annie. "Halifax is amazing, and I loved the feeling I got when I walked on Saint Mary's campus and visited the brand new arena. SMU's strong legacy of athletic excellence and the reputation of the Sobey's School of Business are a great combination for me. I am so excited to be a Husky!"

McDonnell will be studying a Bachelor of Commerce at Saint Mary's.

Saint Mary's Huskies women's hockey head coach Chris Larade is pleased to announce the commitment of forward Ellie Isenor for the 2026-27 season.

A 5'5" forward from East Hants, Nova Scotia, Isenor joins the Huskies out of the Lindsay Construction Surge (Maritime Major Girls Hockey League) and Hants East High School.

In the 2025-26 MMGHL season, Isenor led the Surge in scoring with 52 points (19 goals and 33 assists) in 40 games played.

Isenor previously played at the Bourget Collège Prep U18 hockey program for the 2024-25 season, scoring 41 points (24 goals and 17 assists), in 49 games.

"Ellie is a very cerebral player that good possession skills and the ability to create plays in tight areas," says Huskies head coach Chris Larade. "Her ability to see the ice offensively is very unique and we expect her to be a go-to player as her speed and strength continue to develop."

Isenor describes herself as an energetic and hard working forward.

"I'm looking forward to making memories and playing hockey at Saint Mary's!" says Ellie.

Isenor will be studying a Bachelor of Commerce at Saint Mary's.

Saint Mary's Huskies women's hockey head coach Chris Larade is pleased to announce the commitment of forward Marissa Dawson for the 2026-27 season.

A 5'3" forward from Bay Roberts, Newfoundland, Dawson joins the Huskies from the Rothesay Netherwood School Riverhawks (Junior Women's Hockey League U19).

Over two seasons with RNS, Mercer recorded six points (three goals and three assists) over 20 games.

She also represented Team Atlantic at the 2025 U18 Women's National Championship in her home province of Newfoundland and Labrador, helping lead Team Atlantic to a Silver Medal.

"Marissa's jam and willingness to compete jump off the page, which should make her transition to the university level fairly smooth," says Huskies head coach Chris Larade. "She has big game experience and seems unfazed by the magnitude of the moment which we really like."

Dawson describes herself as a highly competitive player with a team-oriented mentality.

"I'm looking forward to getting to know my teammates and coaches in a supportive environment at Saint Mary's!" says Marissa.

Dawson will be studying a Bachelor of Science at Saint Mary's, with plans to major in Biology.

Saint Mary's Huskies women's hockey head coach Chris Larade is pleased to announce the commitment of goaltender Sadie Davidson for the 2026-27 season.

A 5'10" goaltender from Peterborough, Ontario, Davidson joins the Huskies from the Whitby Junior Wolves (Ontario Women's Hockey League U22 AA) and Crestwood Secondary School.

In the 2025-26 OWHL U22 AA season, Davidson had a 16-9-0 record, with a 2.22 goals against average and .908 save percentage.

"We are excited to see Sadie between the pipes in September!" says Huskies head coach Chris Larade. "Her compete level in the crease and work ethic both in the crease and off the ice are what really caught our eye. She comes in strongly recommended for her team-first mentality and willingness to help make shooters better."

Davidson describes herself as a calm presence in net, who brings leadership, energy and a high compete level to her team.

"I'm looking forward to living in the heart of Halifax, being a part of the Husky culture, and the top tier academic and athletic facilities at Saint Mary's," says Sadie.

Davidson will be studying a Bachelor of Science at Saint Mary's, with plans to major in Biology and minor in Business.

Saint Mary's Huskies women's hockey head coach Chris Larade is pleased to announce the commitment of forward Jenna Charron for the 2026-27 season.

A 5'4" forward from Ayr, Ontario, Charron joins the Huskies from the Cambridge Rivulettes (Ontario Women's Hockey League U22 AA) and Southwood Secondary School.

In the 2025-26 OWHL U22 AA season, Charron scored 19 points (10 goals and nine assists) in 47 games.

Charron was awarded the 2025 Cambridge Sports Hall of Fame annual scholarship for being a positive ambassador through academics and athletics, community contributions and leadership.

"Jenna is a very smart two-way forward that has shown to be very versatile the past couple of seasons," says Huskies head coach Chris Larade. "She skates well and competes very hard, and we expect her to adjust very seamlessly to the next level due to her ability to think the game."

Charron describes herself as a fast, strong player, who brings energy every shift and uses her speed to her advantage.

Jenna's twin brother Jordan was a 2025 NHL Draft pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins, and is a student-athlete at the University of Massachusetts.

"I'm excited to push myself as an athlete and student, and to be a part of a competitive, supportive program at Saint Mary's!" says Jenna.

Charron will be studying a Bachelor of Science at Saint Mary's, with plans to major in Biology.
