Supporting families means supporting all families.
Inclusive care starts with listening, respecting identities, using affirming language, and creating spaces where everyone feels safe and welcomed.

As we live and work on Indigenous lands, we recognize that Indigenous Peoples have cared for families through generations of knowledge, tradition, and community.
While birth practices differ among First Nations, Inuit, and MΓ©tis communities, many teachings share values of respect, connection, holistic wellbeing, and collective care.
At Driftwood Doula, we are committed to listening, learning, and supporting culturally safe and respectful care for all families.
Today, we honour Indigenous knowledge, celebrate Indigenous families, and acknowledge the enduring strength of community centred care.

There is no one way to build a family.
Families are created through love, connection, commitment, and care.
This Pride Month, we celebrate LGBTQ2SIA+ parents, children, and families, and honour the many beautiful paths that lead people to parenthood.
π Every family belongs.

Summer is a wonderful time to get outside, but it's also important to take extra care during pregnancy and with a newborn.
Staying hydrated, dressing for the weather, seeking shade, and taking plenty of breaks can help keep both you and your baby comfortable during hot days.
Remember that every pregnancy and every baby is different. If you have concerns about heat exposure or notice signs of overheating, don't hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider.
Wishing you a safe, healthy, and comfortable summer. βοΈπ

One of the most common questions people ask before hiring a doula:
"Will you replace my partner?"
The answer is no.
Doulas don't take over. We help partners feel more supported, informed, and confident in their role. We can suggest comfort measures, answer questions, and provide continuous support throughout labour so your partner can focus on being present with you.
Birth support isn't about replacing anyone. It's about strengthening your team.
Curious about what doula support actually looks like? Let's chat. πΏ

For PTSD Awareness Day, we're highlighting the importance of trauma informed care in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. πΏ
Trauma informed care isn't a special service for a few people. It's a framework that helps everyone feel safer, more respected, and more supported.
By prioritizing consent, communication, choice, and trust, we can create birth spaces where people feel empowered rather than overwhelmed.
Every person deserves care that honours their experiences and supports their wellbeing.
