HEY QHNS! I’M ANDY (HE/HIM) AND I’M RUNNING FOR A SECOND TERM AS YOUR DIRECTOR OF FINANCE.
I’ve had the privilege of serving in this role over the past year, helping manage the organization’s finances and support the incredible work being done across QHNS. Professionally, I work for the Province of Nova Scotia, where I manage my department’s budget and oversee financial planning and reporting.
Outside of the spreadsheets, I’ve been part of the QHNS community for several years, playing in Pride Cup for the past four years and joining Rainbow League last season. This community means a lot to me, and I’d love the opportunity to continue giving back by helping ensure QHNS remains financially strong and sustainable as we continue to grow.

Meet your Candidates…ROUND 2.

Hello!
We are Nora (She/They) and Lars (They/Them) and we’re running as 2 peas in a pod this year. Nora is running to be your President; with Lars in the background as VP. Most of y’all already know Nora, she’s the current president of QHNS and the longest-running member of the QHNS board. She has the big picture view of the org and loves thinking about the long-term stability and growth of the org. She’s committed to the q***r politics of sports and maintaining QHNS’s identity as an activist organization, setting us apart from the rest of the hockey options in the HRM.

Lars, has also been around from the start, but a full introduction is probably necessary! I’m Lars, I’ve been playing hockey my whole life and I’ve been volunteering with hockey, student government, q***r orgs, and hockey leagues for almost 10 years now. I’m known for my attention to detail, accidental memorization of governing docs, and general ability to take things the proper amount of serious. I ❤️ the community that QHNS has cultivated, and I want the opportunity to give back. I want to be an extra set of hands to help out the other members of the executive, and then focus on policy/procedure/admin. I know that y’all don’t want to have to think about that extra jazz when you come to hockey, so I wanna make them as seamless for y’all as possible so you don’t HAVE to think about it.

I am pleased to announce that nominations for the 2026-27 Board are officially open! You may self-nominate, or nominate another member for any board position by clicking here. Nominations must be made through the official nominations form linked in the email. To ensure fairness and accountability, any other method of nomination will be deemed invalid.

Your Board President Nora already sent out an email containing important information and dates related to the election and I would encourage anyone interested in nominating themselves or another member to refer back to that email. However, I will reiterate 2 key dates as they are coming up soon.

Virtual Board Information Session: Wednesday August 5th, 2026 from 6:00-7:30pm
This session will be useful for anyone wanting to learn more about what being a board member means on a day-to-day basis as well as the specific portfolios of the different positions. You can register for this session by clicking the link in the email!

Nominations Close: Saturday August 8th, 2026 at 11:59pm AST
This is a hard deadline, late nominations will not be accepted to ensure fairness throughout the elections process.

Nominees are required to confirm their candidacy no later than Sunday August 9th, 2026 at 11:59pm AST to be included on the ballot.
