💛 Meet the newest member of The Wild Life… Come say hello this week to Chicken - the duckling!

Yes… our duckling is named Chicken. 😄

At just a few weeks old, Chicken has decided that people are its flock. The moment it’s left alone, it lets the whole farm know with the tiniest (and loudest!) peeps until someone comes back.

So these days, Chicken comes pretty much everywhere with us. Chores? Chicken’s there. Lessons? Chicken’s supervising. Walking around the farm? Right behind us, tiny feet working overtime to keep up or catching ride in our arms.

Watching this little duckling has been a wonderful reminder that sometimes all we need is to feel safe and know someone is nearby.

If you visit The Wild Life this summer, don’t be surprised if you spot a little duck waddling along beside one of us. Chances are, that’s Chicken—our tiny, feathered shadow, and quite possibly the hella cutest farm helper you’ll ever meet. 🦆💛

Today, we’re celebrating more than just a country—we’re celebrating the people who help feed it.

Farming in Canada isn’t easy. It’s early mornings, late nights, unpredictable weather, rising costs, and countless sacrifices that often go unseen. It’s fixing fences in the rain, checking animals before sunrise, and putting your heart into the land every single day.

But despite the challenges, there is something incredibly beautiful about this life. Watching new life arrive in the spring, harvesting what you’ve worked so hard to grow, caring for animals, and sharing that harvest with your community is a privilege that never gets old.

We’re proud to call Canada home and even prouder to be part of the farming families who work every day to nourish our communities and care for this incredible land.

This Canada Day, we celebrate the resilience, kindness, and determination that make Canadian agriculture so special. Thank you to every farmer, rancher, grower, and food producer who keeps our country strong.

From our farm to your family, Happy Canada Day! May we never take for granted the land beneath our feet and the food on our tables.

I am once again blessed with an amazing crew for the summer season! One of the girls, Katelyn, is going to be running the whole petting zoo!! How lucky am I to have a young, enthusiastic person on my crew to take on such a huge project?!
You can support Katelyn and all her hard work getting the petting zoo ready and user friendly by stopping by. No reservations required for our open hours until Labour Day. It’s a fun time for the whole family for $25 (a family is 2 adults and kids under 18).

Today, I want to take a moment to acknowledge how incredibly proud I am of my daughter.

This evening was not an easy one. She learned that her great-grandmother had passed away, and despite carrying that heartbreak, she still helped with two riding lessons. She remained kind, professional, and composed while supporting our riders and horses, even while processing such difficult news.

As parents, we hope to raise children who are resilient, compassionate, and dependable. Tonight, Louise demonstrated all of those qualities. While no child should have to navigate grief, I am deeply proud of the strength, maturity, and dedication she showed.❤️🐴

🌿 Did You Know? 🐹

Guinea pigs are incredibly social animals and communicate with each other using a variety of sounds, including wheeks, purrs, chirps, and squeaks! They also have continuously growing teeth, which is why munching on grasses and plants is such an important part of their daily routine.

These adorable little lawn mowers are just one of the many animals your child can meet and learn about at farm camp!
