At Rise Above Martial Arts, we study K*k Sool Hap Kido! A traditional Korean martial art that blends K*k Sool Won and Hap Kido into a well-rounded β€œhard-soft” system.

With an emphasis on circular movement and redirecting energy, practitioners learn to balance power with control, structure with flow, and strength with adaptability.

Our curriculum covers all aspects of martial arts, including:

Did you know martial arts can be viewed on a spectrum from hard to soft?

These terms don’t mean one style is better than another. Instead, they describe different approaches to movement, technique, and the use of force.

πŸ’₯ Hard-style martial arts generally emphasize direct force, strong structure, stable positioning, powerful strikes, and precise technique.

🌊 Soft-style martial arts tend to focus on fluid movement, timing, balance, redirection, and using efficiency rather than meeting force with force.

⚑ Hard-soft systems combine both approaches, allowing practitioners to develop power, structure, control, and adaptability.

For example, K*k Sool Hap Kido is considered a hard-soft style. Its curriculum includes striking, throws, joint manipulation, defensive techniques, and flowing movement. This gives practitioners the opportunity to develop different skills and approaches depending on the technique or situation.
