Sledding season continues here in Golden and the spring daze are in full effect. Freezing temps over night mean for crusty mornings and slushy afternoons. Access is still quite good and there is a lot of snow up high. Grooming operations have finished in Silent but remain in effect in Gorman and Quartz this weekend. Avalanche conditions are forecast to be low-moderate for the weekend.

Chatter opens on the 5th for sledding.

We have 12 spots open for racers for this weekend due to some cancellations. If you want in then come to the civic centre tomorrow night. $175. Cash only. Must be 18 years old. Must register in person. Spots will be first come first served but we will allow people to register Saturday morning too if there’s room. If you wanted in or were on the fence, this is your chance!

Well the precipitation isn’t the problem, the temperatures however, could use a little work. Luckily there’s hope in the forecast and conditions could radically change here in Golden with a breath of cold air by Friday evening. There’s been a lot of snow this week and as of Wednesday (March 18) it was deep but really wet snow above Quartz cabin. We’ve had over 56cms of snow this week. Avalanche conditions have been through the roof but the incoming cold air is forecast to bring things down to moderate by Sunday. Avalanche conditions have halted grooming operations during the late week here, and things will get back to normal when it’s safe to groom.

Oh man it’s good out there! Snowmobile conditions in Golden are nearing ‘all-time’ as bountiful dumps came through this week with cold temps and blue sky. Golden has received 65-80 cms in the past week and it’s legit deep out there in the right spots. If you’ve been waiting for the right time to attack on some powder this year, now is the time… Avalanche conditions look to remain considerable and grooming operations are running in all 3 staged areas.

Golden snowmobile conditions have been quite good in the past week but there’s also been a lot of avalanche activity. There’s been 40-50 cms of snow in past week and there’s another 30+ in the forecast. Temps are mild mid through the weekend and will then turn cooler. Avalanche conditions remain considerable and it’s heads up hockey out there. Grooming operations are continuing in all 3 of our managed areas.

Golden is experiencing a mid week storm that is set to bring 20-30 cms by Friday afternoon and then the skies will clear. This snow, no doubt, will elevate avalanche dangers and riders should take extra precautions this weekend when venturing out. Golden has received 30-40 cms of snow in the past week and the sledding has been quite good. Don’t let the warm valley temperatures fool you, it’s still full winter in the alpine. Our grooming ops are firing in all areas but there’s some bigger changes in Silent parking this week. Keep reading to find out more.

Snowmobile conditions in Golden are better than you might think. There hasn’t been a ‘big’ dump recently but a few cms here and there has added up to some pretty decent coverage out there. And as you may know, there is a great base this year so all the new stuff is straight bonus. There’s a little bit of snow again in the forecast and avalanche conditions look to remain moderate. Grooming is working in all 3 areas and the cooler valley temps will help keep the trails smooth.
