Icefall Lodge is looking for a Backcountry Cook this summer season.

Operating a remote, heli-access kitchen at the edge of the alpine takes a unique skill set. It’s not
just about turning out incredible food; it requires great organization skills, resourcefulness, and a
deep passion for life in the mountains.

We are looking for an experienced backcountry cook to fuel our hiking program this summer.

The Role: You will own the daily rhythm of the kitchen—preparing hearty breakfasts,
lunch spreads, après-hike appies, dinners, and desserts.

Responsibilities also include inventory management and general lodge chores.

Requirements: Proven experience in a remote lodge environment, strong communication skills, and comfort working around helicopters.

Timing: Multiple shifts available in July, August and early September (minimum
one-week commitment).

The ski season is coming to an end today withe the last group on the ski mountaineering course skiing out. I skied out 2 days ago with Eric. We skied a new route out to Lyell Creek that I have been looking at for years. It took me a while to ski it not so much because it was hard but if we got all the way out there and the crux pitch didn’t go it would be a long way back to the lodge. We had a great 1000m decent until the snow ran out and then a few km to the truck.

Some spring projects at the lodge while the last few traverses are going on. Laid out some pipe for a new hydroelectric. Also went up to the Lyell Hut today fix the door on the outhouse, great corn skiing on the way back. Groups skied the Wild West and Mt Forbes today.
