To anyone who used to dance... or always wished they had.

​Remember the feeling of stepping onto a wooden floor and making some noise? 🪵👟
​Maybe you grew up step dancing, clogging, or taking lessons every week after school. Maybe you spent your weekends at competitions or kitchen parties. Or maybe... you never got the chance to try, but always watched from the sidelines wondering if you could.

​Then life happened. Busy careers, family, endless schedules, and years of putting yourself on the back burner. Somewhere along the line, dancing became a distant memory.

​But who says it has to stay in the past?

​You don't need to pick up right where you left off decades ago. You don't need to have perfect balance, remember a single step, or be in "peak shape" to lace up a pair of shoes today.

​You just have to show up.

​Right here in the Valley, adults of all ages and fitness levels are stepping back onto the mat—some returning after 20 years away, and others lacing up step shoes for the very first time.

​It’s low-impact, great for the mind and body, and above all, a whole lot of fun. The goal isn't to be the dancer you were at 15. It’s about enjoying the dancer you are today.

​Raised in the heart of Ottawa Valley musical tradition, Chanda brings decades of performance and teaching experience to the studio floor. Known for her precise footwork, timing, and encouraging teaching style, she has dedicated her career to passing down the art of Canadian step dancing to dancers of all ages—from young beginners finding their feet to seasoned dancers refining advanced technique.

​Calling all parents of 9 to 12-year-olds! 🎒

​If you have a child who can’t stop moving, loves music, or needs a fun, positive outlet to burn off extra energy after school, our Youth Step Dance program is the place to be!

​Step dance is fantastic for kids in this age group. It builds:

▪ ​🎯 Coordination & Balance: Great for general athleticism and rhythm.

▪ ​🧠 Focus & Confidence: Learning footwork sequences gives them a huge sense of accomplishment.

Throwing it back to an incredible time at the Canadian Open Fiddle and Step Dance Competition right here in Pembroke earlier this month! 🇨🇦✨

​We are so proud of all our Chanda’s School of Dance students who took the stage, represented our studio with so much heart, and showed everyone what Ottawa Valley step dance is all about.

​While we only captured photos of a few of our dancers, there were several other students who competed that weekend! We want to send a huge shoutout to every single dancer who participated. Whether you brought home an award or not, and whether we caught you on camera or missed the photo op—we could not be prouder of your hard work, dedication, and courage!
