Commonly asked questions about our new program:
1. Who is this for? This program is meant for seniors who are not currently active, or are lightly active. It is best for people who have limited experience with weight training or who have not trained in a gym for a long time. It is a beginner program. It is suitable for those who have mobility challenges, health concerns, or those who get most of their exercise from walking.
2. What will we be doing? Our program consists of cardiovascular exercise (rowing, jogging/walking, exercise biking), bodyweight exercises (squats, step ups, etc.) weight/resistance training with dumbbells, kettlebells, etc., balance, and mobility exercises.
3. How long is a class? A class is 60 minutes in length, and we will be training 2 days per week.
4. What do you mean by "senior"? We are looking for people who are 55+. We will not turn you away if you are not yet 65.
5. How long do I have to commit for? We recommend that you commit to this program for at least 3 months, however should you decide that it is not for you, we ask that you let us know at least 2 weeks before the end of each 4 week block if you are not continuing so that we can offer the place to someone else. 3 months is a good amount of time to try a program to see some benefits and make a decision.
6. What will I get out of this program? Our members report better mobility, strength, and overall wellness. We have had clients that have seen improvements in pain/previous injuries; better health markers ie: blood pressure, blood sugar; better quality sleep; improved muscle mass/bone density, etc. We want to help seniors extend their ability to live independently and give them the ability to participate in activities they may have given up due to health or mobility issues.
We are very excited about this new program!
