SOMETHING SPECIAL HAPPENED TODAY AT THE YMCA!

Today's special event marks the official launch of the 100 KW solar installation and i unveiling of a dedication plaque recognizing the generosity of Tara Savage, whose endowment to the Fredericton Trails Coalition helped make this meaningful project possible.

The 100 kW solar installation will help offset the energy requirements of the YMCA daycare and four kilometres of city trails, creating a lasting environmental legacy that will benefit our community for years to come.

We are also grateful to the major sponsors who helped bring this initiative to life, including the Regional Development Corporation, Trans Canada Trail and RBC Foundation.

THE SECOND ANNUAL CYCLE FOR KIDS IS BACK! 🚲

Join us on Saturday, October 24 for a day of cycling, community and giving back in support of the Fredericton YMCA.✨

Whether you’re an experienced cyclist or simply looking for a fun way to get moving, we’d love to have you ride with us. Rally your friends, family or coworkers and help us make a difference in our community.

IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM YMCA

We have received confirmation that power has been restored at the Y at 570 York Street. However, all closures communicated earlier today will remain in effect.

For clarity, today’s changes are:

Child Care: Closed for the remainder of the day.

Camp: Closing at 2:45 p.m. as previously communicated.

Group Fitness: All noon group fitness classes are cancelled.

Pool: Closed until 4:30 pm for the scheduled deep clean.

We know this may be frustrating, especially now that power has returned, and we appreciate your understanding. When the outage occurred, we put our closure and emergency procedures into action and contacted families based on the information available to us at the time. We need to maintain those plans to ensure programs can close safely and staff can properly reset and prepare the facility.

Please continue to follow the closure information you received earlier today.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through the impact of today’s outage. We appreciate our YMCA community’s support.

Members are welcome to visit the Wellness Centre and gymnasium. Fitness classes are planned to resume in the evening.

Ignite Basketball Assessment Date Change ⚠

For all U16 Level 3 Competitive prospective athletes, please note that the Ignite Team Basketball Assesments will be taking place on Thursday, September 3 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Gymnasium at 570 York Street.

LABOUR DAY HOLIDAY HOURS ⏰

Labour Day is on Monday, September 7. The YMCA at 570 York Street will be open from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Group Fitness Classes will not be running on this day. If you are interested in reserving your Family Swim, members can contact the welcome desk starting at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 6. The general public call call the Welcome Desk the day of the planned swim.

Fredericton North will be CLOSED on Labour Day.

🔥 They’re back! Power Up, Family Friend & F.I.R.E. return this fall! 🔥

We’re excited to welcome back three YMCA programs that are all about connection, confidence and belonging. 💙

⭐ Power Up
A leadership program for youth ages 12–15. Participants build leadership skills, make new connections and receive a complimentary 4-month YMCA membership! First meet up will be on September 17 at 6:30 p.m.

💙 Family Friend
A supportive program for single parents and their dependents, featuring regular programming, a home-cooked meal and complimentary YMCA memberships for the family. Will start on September 9.

🔥 F.I.R.E.
Friday nights are for F.I.R.E.! Our youth Friday night drop-in program is back, giving young people a welcoming place to hang out, connect and have fun. Starts on Friday, September 11.

CLOSURES FOR DEEP CLEANING🧹🧼🪣🧽

We are taking this final week of the Summer to give our facility some love! We will be doing a deep clean in each department. There will be no programs, bookings, or scheduled events during these times. Here are the closures that you need to be aware of:

The Aquatics Centre (the pool) will be closed from September 2nd, at 8AM until 4:30PM

The Wellness Centre will be closed from September 2nd, at 8PM until September 3rd, at 5PM **Edit-Update** Please visit our Wellness Centre in Willie O'Ree Place at 605 Cliffe Street.

The Gymnasium on the first floor will be closed starting at 1PM on September 4th, for the rest of the evening until Close

When you return for your regularly scheduled visit, we hope that you find the place sparkling!✨

It’s time to plan some fall fun at the YMCA! Whether your child loves to swim, climb, play, move or try something new, registration is now open for our Fall Programs.

A few things to know before you register:

🍁 Children must have an active YMCA membership to register for Fall Programs.
🏊 Members can register for up to 4 programs, including swimming lessons. Extra programs will include a fee.
💦 Membership also includes access to Family Swims.
🧗 And don’t forget about Optimus Climb, our indoor play structure!
