A note for our community π
You may have seen recent news about the future of the Exhibition Grounds and the lands around our neighbourhood. Since then, a lot of people have reached out with the same question: what does this mean for The Cultural Centre?
The short answer β nothing changes for us.
The Cultural Centre owns both our building and the land at 28 Saunders Street, and this remains our home. We continue to operate here, serve our community here, and plan for the future here.
The Cultural Centre remains open, active, and ready to welcome you β the same spaces, the same programs, the same partners, and the same warm front door that has been part of this community for years.
While the neighbourhood around us may evolve, our commitment to the community remains the same. We will continue to provide a place where people can gather, celebrate culture, share ideas, host events, build connections, and feel at home.
Change can bring questions and uncertainty, and we understand why people may be wondering what the future holds. For The Cultural Centre, our focus remains right here at 28 Saunders Street, where we intend to continue serving our community for years to come.
Neighbourhoods grow and change, and ours is no exception. Through all of it, we'll remain what we've always been: a welcoming home for gathering, culture, and connection in the heart of Fredericton's west end. π

5 Things You Didn't Know About The Cultural Centre π
We're more than a building in the west end of downtown Fredericton β we're a space built for community. Here are five things that might surprise you:
1οΈβ£ We're a not-for-profit. When you book with us, you're supporting a community hub that provides affordable spaces for cultural and community organizations across Greater Fredericton.
2οΈβ£ We're Rainbow Registered. Our certification reflects our commitment to being an accountable space β welcoming, inclusive, and respectful for everyone who walks through our doors.
3οΈβ£ Your event, your team. We have no supplier exclusives. Choose any caterer, decorator, or supplier you like β the day is yours to shape.
4οΈβ£ We have room to grow into. Our 3,700 sq ft Multipurpose Room can host anything from a 30-person workshop to a 300+ guest celebration, and our 375 sq ft boardroom is perfect for meetings and training sessions.
5οΈβ£ We make it easy. Ample on-site parking just steps from the front door, affordable rates for non-profits, businesses, and cultural groups, and a welcoming, accessible location.
From boardrooms to large event halls, The Cultural Centre is your go-to for event rentals in Fredericton that are welcoming, accessible, and community-driven.

When a space can do double duty, that's when you know it works. π
This week, our boardroom became a training room. The Cultural Centre and Liberty Lane teamed up for Intermediate First Aid training and certification through the Heart & Stroke NB β and the room handled every part of it.
The group moved seamlessly from the classroom presentation into hands-on practical exercises, all without leaving the room. Projector and screen for the lesson, plenty of table space to spread out, and space to get up and practise the skills that matter most.
Our boardroom seats up to 25 and comes equipped with a projector, screen and Bluetooth speaker. It's available seven days a week β ideal for workshops, training sessions, meetings and more.
Looking for a space that adapts to how you work? The boardroom is now available to book.

A New Set of Keys, A Longer Table πβ€οΈ
Some stories deserve to be told slowly, and Leanne Wiens has told hers beautifully.
After more than 16 years, Leanne has made the heartfelt decision to close LJW Catering Group β and we are deeply honoured that she has chosen The Cultural Centre to carry her space, and her vision, into its next chapter.
If you've ever gathered around a table Leanne helped set, you already know: she never simply served meals. She served stories. She created connections. She made room for everyone β newcomers, women, and individuals of all abilities all found a place at her table. That spirit of belonging is exactly what we hope to protect and grow.
We're proud to share that this remarkable Class 5 kitchen will live on as The Cultural Community Kitchen β a welcoming space for catering, cooking classes, teaching and learning, culturally diverse cuisine, and the simple, powerful act of bringing people together. More on this at a later date.
Leanne, thank you for building something so full of care, and for trusting us to keep the lights on and the table long. We promise to honour the legacy you created here in Fredericton β one shared meal, one story, one connection at a time.
We invite you to read Leanne's own words below. They say it best. π

π One year of Capital Collector's Market β and we're so glad to be the place they call home for it!
On Saturday, September 19, our doors at 28 Saunders Street will open wide as Capital Collector's Market celebrates its first anniversary right here at The Cultural Centre. From 10AM to 3PM, our space fills with collectors, hobbyists, and curious first-timers β and there's little we love more than watching our building buzz with community like this.
Here's a peek at what the day holds:
π¨ A Warhammer figure painting session hosted by Nerdful Things from Moncton
π Trading cards, comics, vinyl, video games, collectibles & more
ποΈ A 50/50 draw and giveaways
π $2 admission β with $1 from every ticket going to the Multicultural Association of Fredericton
That last part means a lot to us. Every visitor who walks through the door is also giving back to an organization whose work sits close to our own commitment to honouring our stories and celebrating our diversity.
Whether you're hunting for a specific piece, rediscovering an old hobby, or simply curious to see what's out there, come spend the day with us.
