This weekend saw the 2026 New Brunswick Open Championship take place in Fredericton. 18 players descended on Marshall d'Avray Hall at UNB for two days of fun and competitive chess. At the end of the final round, the prizewinners were as follows:

1st place and the 2026 New Brunswick Open Champion with a perfect 5/5 score, Jason Manley

Tied for 2nd with 3.5/5, FM Joe Horton, Ruffy Tangoan and Rutvik Reddy Allampati

Top Under 1800 with 3.5/5, Raphael Jon Tangoan

Tied for 2nd under 1800 with 3/5, Keenan Wall, Mark Fowlie and Chris Maund

Rutvik and Raphael also tied for Top Junior, with Johann Riley Tangoan finishing third Top Junior at 3/5

A lengthy and hard-fought three rounds of the New Brunswick Open took place on Saturday, and heading into the final two rounds today, the sole leader is Jason Manley with 3/3, as FM Joe Horton, Ruffy Tangoan and Keenan Wall sit tied for second at 2.5/3.

This past Saturday was the Fredericton Spring Tornado! 17 players took part in a fun and competitive day of chess. After four hard-fought rounds, the prize winners were as follows:

Tied for first with a score of 3.5/4 were Jonah Dobbelsteyn and Jason Manley

Top Under 1700 was Johann Tangoan with 3/4. Tied for second Under 1700 with 2/4 were Lance Beloungie, Evan Delisle, Yurii Kosianenko and Lijing Chen

Thanks to all the players for a great event, and congratulations to the prizewinners! The next event in Fredericton will be the 2026 New Brunswick Open Championship, taking place June 20-21.
