Why Judo?
Because It’s More Than a Martial Art.
Judo has a pretty strong case for being one of the best all around martial arts for kids and teens.
In judo, techniques aren’t just practiced. They’re tested against someone who is genuinely resisting. You learn very quickly what works, what doesn’t, and how to adapt.
Judo develops:
Strength, balance and coordination
Confidence under pressure
Problem solving and quick decision making
Discipline and respect
The ability to fall safely and get back up
Resilience when things don’t go your way
And maybe that last one is the most important.
A young judoka can get thrown 15 times at practice and still come back the next day. Eventually, they may throw the person they once couldn’t budge.
In competition, they step onto the mat alone. Their coach can guide them, but can’t do it for them. Their parents can cheer, but can’t solve the problem.
They bow. They fight. They learn. Win or lose, they bow again.
Judo teaches kids how to fall and, more importantly, how to get back up.
That’s a lesson that reaches far beyond the tatami.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN.
Looking for a sport that gives your child more than just a workout?
Judo helps kids build confidence, coordination, strength, discipline and resilience all while learning how to fall safely, challenge themselves and respect the people around them.
And one of the best parts? Kids don’t have to be the fastest, tallest or strongest to find their place on the mat. Judo encourages each athlete to grow at their own pace, set goals and celebrate progress.
Whether your child is looking for a new activity, a way to build confidence, or dreams of competing someday, there’s a place for them in judo.
Come discover what happens when kids step onto the mat and realize just how capable they are.

Happy Birthday to our Head Sensei, Keith Bibbey!
Today we celebrate a remarkable leader, mentor, and friend who has dedicated so much of his life to the growth and success of Tolide. Since taking the helm at just 18 years old, Keith has guided generations of judoka with unwavering dedication, patience, and passion.
Through countless classes, competitions, gradings, and life lessons, he has built more than a judo club, he has built a community. His commitment to the principles of judo, his belief in his students, and his ability to inspire others have left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to step onto the mat with him.
Thank you, Keith, for your years of service, leadership, and friendship. Your influence reaches far beyond judo, helping shape confident, respectful, and resilient people.
Wishing you a very happy birthday filled with family, friends, laughter, and all the appreciation you so richly deserve.
Happy Birthday, Sensei Keith!
