Dear NPGA Membership,

For those who do not know me, my name is Chantelle Yates, and I am the Executive Director here at NPGA. I have lived in Fort St. John for 14 years and have been part of NPGA for just as long. During that time, I have had the privilege of being part of NPGA through three facilities, a total-loss fire, and a pandemic, and through all of the growth, challenges, and changes that have shaped our club along the way.

I love our sport and truly believe in the power of sport to build confidence, connection, and healthy, active lives at every age and stage. My own gymnastics journey started in Parent & Tot (way too long ago to admit!) and continued through recreational, or Gymnastics for All programs. As a teenager, I became a coach and went on to complete my Sport Science program.

Over the past 14 years, I have also become increasingly involved with gymnastics at the Zone and Provincial levels, judging, serving on committees, and boards in a number of roles, while continuing my work here at NPGA. I am also a mother of four, all of whom have participated in NPGA programming. I have seen firsthand the impact this sport can have on children and families, and I truly believe the foundations my children gained through gymnastics have helped them in so many areas of their lives.

After being away from the club for the past three months, I am very happy to be back this week. I want to take a moment to extend a heartfelt thank you to our staff, who have worked tirelessly to keep our facility operating and our programs moving forward, and to our volunteer Board of Directors, who have worked hard to keep things running during my absence.

I also want to recognize the staff members who have moved on this summer. It is always difficult to say goodbye to people who have been such an important part of our gym family. Our gym will not be the same without them, and we are grateful for everything Sam, Brittany, Anika, and Katie have contributed to NPGA. We wish each of them the very best in their next adventures. At the same time, we are excited to welcome several new staff members this fall who will be joining our team and working across our programs.

We are incredibly excited to get this season underway and to welcome back our athletes, from our youngest gymnasts to our oldest participants. I am eager to get back into the gym and into the work I love, but I also want to do that thoughtfully.

After three months away, I believe it is important that I take the time to reconnect with our staff, listen to what they have experienced and what they need, and make sure we are setting our programs and our team up for a successful season. We have also been closed for the past two weeks, which means there are questions from members that we have not yet been able to answer.

We want to make sure we have the time to listen to those questions and provide thoughtful and accurate answers.
Our goal is to make sure that when our programs open, they are ready, organized, well supported, and meet the high standards you have come to expect from NPGA.

For this reason, we are postponing the opening of registration for Active Start, Gymnastics for All, Annual Recreational Programs, Ninja, and Parkour until Friday, September 11 at 7:00 a.m. Classes will continue to begin on September 28 as originally scheduled. Our licensed preschool (Gym & Learn) is open for registration and classes start September 14th.

I know many of you are eager to register, and I appreciate your patience and understanding as we take this additional time to make sure we are ready.

A huge thank you to all of our returning members, and a very warm welcome to those joining NPGA for the first time. We are so excited to see everyone back in the gym, and I am looking forward to a great season together.

Thank you for your patience, your support, and for being part of the NPGA community.

To help make registration as smooth as possible for everyone, we’ve split registration into two separate opening times. This allows our team to better support families and quickly address any registration issues that may come up.

Our goal is to make the registration process as easy and seamless as possible for all programs!

Active Start is an exciting introduction to movement and gymnastics for our youngest participants! Designed for children from sitting through 6 years old, these classes focus on developing foundational movement skills through age-appropriate activities, exploration, and play.

Children will have the opportunity to climb, jump, roll, balance, swing, and explore in a fun and supportive gym environment. Activities are designed to help build coordination, strength, balance, flexibility, body awareness, and confidence while encouraging children to become comfortable trying new things.

Our session based GFA classes are a fun and welcoming way for school-aged children and youth to discover, learn, and enjoy gymnastics in a supportive, non-competitive environment. These classes are perfect for beginners, returning gymnasts, or anyone looking to stay active while building confidence and learning new skills.

Participants will explore a variety of gymnastics skills and equipment while developing strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, body awareness, and confidence. Our coaches provide fun challenges and skill progressions to help each gymnast work at their own level and celebrate their individual progress.

Our Annual Gymnastics Programs run from September to June, giving gymnasts the opportunity to build their skills, confidence, strength, and coordination throughout the school year.

Whether your child is brand new to gymnastics or has been flipping, jumping, and balancing for years, our programs are designed to help each gymnast develop at their own pace. Throughout the year, gymnasts will work on a variety of gymnastics skills including strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, jumping, tumbling, and apparatus skills.

We unfortunately have some changes to share regarding our Seniors Gymnastics program. Due to facility and staffing constraints, we are unable to accommodate the Seniors program during our Fall Session.

We know this may be disappointing for those who were looking forward to getting back in the gym, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

The good news is that we are hoping to bring Seniors Gymnastics back for our Winter Session and will share more information as soon as we are able!

Thank you so much for your understanding and continued support of North Peace Gymnastics.
