If you are looking for some ice time, the Centrefire Place Arena will have availability on Saturday, April 20th, and Sunday, April 21st, 2024.
We will include their contact information at the bottom of this post.

The tournament runs from April 18-21, 2024, and will be a round-robin. Each team will play at least 5 games, and there will be a championship and consolation game on Sunday. Plus we will have a skills competition!

The first two days will be held at Fort McKay Arena, and the weekend games will be played at Centerfire Place Arena.

Meet Fredrick Carlson

I began my hockey journey playing at FMMHA and transitioned to officiating at 16 with FMMHRA. From there, I officiated across Canada, including junior and senior levels. In 2023, I officiated at a semi-pro tournament in Riga, Latvia, and in 2024, at a North American AAA tournament in Las Vegas. My dedication to hockey officiating spans grassroots to elite levels, driven by passion and a commitment to excellence.

Fred joined the Elite Zebras ref association in the spring of 2022 and will be the tournament's RIC. He will be in charge of assigning, supervising, and selecting the referees for the semis and finals.

Trevor Kippenhuck Co Owner / Co Tournament Director

Trevor Kippenhuck is a highly experienced sports official with over 25 years of experience in both hockey and basketball. He has been a hockey referee for the past 5 years and more than 20 years officiating basketball at various levels.

Trevor's knowledge of the rules, mechanics, and challenges of both sports, combined with his ability to stay focused and make quick decisions under pressure, make him a valuable member of any team. He is a dedicated team player who always puts the needs of the game and the players first.

His background in both sports, as well as his passion for teaching and mentoring others, makes him ideal to help referees stay in the game and have the tools and knowledge to keep up with the game.

Trevor's commitment to excellence, his experience and his passion for sports are the perfect combination to help referees of all levels reach their full potential and contribute to the growth and development of the sport.

Meet Devin Wentzell

Co-owner/founder of Elite Zebras Referee Association
Established in September 2022.
Devin has been a referee for 32 years and has been involved in hockey in one form or another since he was three years old, playing hockey, coaching, and being a referee. He truly has a passion for the game. That is why he is organizing the Northern Lights Super Series Tournament. He hopes to ignite a passion among the upcoming players for all things hockey.
So, if you see him around, stop and say “Hello.” We are pretty sure he would love to tell you about the upcoming tournament and anything related to hockey.

Hey Spring hockey teams!!

How much is 2 hour of ice time for practice worth to you? What if we included that in your registration fee. I have more ice booked than I need. That means if teams register I can offer 2 - 1 hour slots to each team that registers.

On top of that, a skills competition and 5 games.

CCG Events has been extremely helpful to us to try and get this going. Our Elite Zebras Referee Association refs have been attending for the last 5 years and want to host a tournament. Message me if you have any interest.

What's better than watching your kids playing in an exciting hockey tournament? Having a parent's night out during the tournament!!


We have a parent's night planned where we chaperone the kids at the hotel while the parents head out to dance, bowl or even go axe throwing.

We also have adult-only raffle prizes
